Venezuelan supplies of crude oil to USA may be in jeopardy
Energy Minister Ramirez says, with direct reference to Carlos Andres Perez in the Dominican Republic, that Venezuela will not now allow its crude oil to be sold to countries that support terrorism ... the definition of "terrorism" being against the legitimate government of Venezuela.

Now that CAP has escaped to his luxury apartments in Manhattan, the logical question is being asked what follow-up action is intended this weekend if the White House refuses to deal with the former President of Venezuela under mutual anti-terrorism agreements. Some diplomats are speaking quietly about a probable imposition of an immediate oil embargo against the United States ... which could seriously interrupt supplies ... but official sources in Caracas have not been able to qualify the possibility and the Venezuelan Embassy in Georgetown, Washington D.C. has been closed after extensive flooding in the wake of Friday's hurricane alert.

1. if we refuse or ask for evidence that he is a terrorist..
I guess Venezuela will just have to "liberate" us in order to continue it's "hot pursuit".

3. OOOOh!
If Venezuela cuts off oil to the U$A, things might get hairy.
The CIA trying to assasinate Chavez is terrorism.

9. Right on
are things starting finally to unfold? Does Chavez have the backing of SA and Russia? Putin's gambit to realize in check mate in three moves, or just a hidden threat? In a few weeks US might find it alone in the world, with no oil...

10. Yes he does.
Chavez also has the backing of the real political power in the Andean Countries - the nativist parties.

11. And more than that
Lula, the new world leader, and the rest of OAS:

Plus the global opinion, if he decides or has no alternative but to confront US in a serious way (destroying Bushistas and US economy and global hegemony on the side if that's what it takes).

13. haha I trust SA like I could throw 'em
those wiley bastards. Knowing them they'd give Chavez the ol' "we're right behid ya buddy!" The minute Venezuala turns off the pumps SA picks up the slack so they can continue to bath in US$$ and oppress their own nation.

Alliances or no, SA's loyal only to SA.

14. Who (or what) to trust?
Not Saudi's, but their national interests. You don't think they feel now very threatened by USA, that they are deaf to what is going inside USA? If they come up with a good chance to deliver their own pre-emptive strike and put US on it's knees, why would they not take it? What CAN be trusted is SA's loyalty to SA, like you say.

Second, SA can't "pick up the slack". They are already pumping at their maximum capacity.

12. Do you reall think it's just gashog owners that would suffer?
Do you think crashing the US economy and making the price of delivered goods out of the poors reach is a GOOD thing? I don't and I doubt very many others in America do either.

15. I think it would be a good thing
but then, I don't live in US.

I must admit I'm positively surpised that so many on this board have such loyalty to humankind and hatred of Bushco fascism, that they are ready to take such horrible beating. I don't believe I would be that brave and unselfish.

16. I thought
that Venezuela depended on the US as it's major buyer to support their oil industry.

So now which way does it all go, Cap'n Peachfuzz?
