CHIEFS TELL BLAIR: YOU COULD LOSE ELECTION
TONY Blair was warned last night that he could lose the next General Election.

In the wake of yesterday's shattering defeat at Brent, senior Labour strategists admitted voters are deserting in droves.

And they fear it could seriously threaten the Government's chances of retaining power.

Former minister Frank Field said: "We are in deep trouble.

9. Blair and Bush
Whoever the victor is should not matter when Blair has lied and sucked the British into war. He does not deserve to continue. Bush, however, must go. This country and its resources and its poor and its schoolchildren and its etc.,etc. cannot survive another 4 years of this manaical crew. I will have to move. I am not proud of my country. I do not believe that the all-mighty dollar is in the top 100 of important issues. I saw President Carter on C-Span today. There is a statesman, a man of honor, a true Christian. He makes John Asscrass and the shrubs look exactly what they are: Philistines.

I used to like Blair. What the hell happened?
He seemed so sincere when he said we had to murder Arabs. What went wrong in his mind?

4. blair defeat
the problems with a Blair defeat are who would replace him. Gordon Brown rubs the english establishment up the wrong way and his primacy would open up the home rule for Scotland debate. If labour falls in Scotland, then its the SNP who would benefit, which would lead to the dissolution of the UK, same in Wales. If Scotland leaves then the rest of the UK becomes pretty much Tory, as the Scottish seats have always been a good strong labour block. I honestly cant see anyone defeating Blair as long as hes not found with a dead girl or live boy.

6. Sounds bad for England
Sorry about that. If a PM is elected that won't join Bush* in his conquering adventures, it would be much better for the world and the U.S.

8. Robin Cook
Probably not yet, but next year. Iraq is not going away but getting worse, poodle stays poodle and keeps fucking the British people with his neoliberal defeatist policies and destroyes Labour so that only Cook can save the party in 2005.

15. Actually Robin Cook is quite electable
because he was against the war from the start, and tried to stop Blair from going too far. He resigned in a loud protest, and the British people will never forget their heroes. Robin Cook happens to be one of them.

And looking at the current swing vote, someone who is the leader of Liberal Democrats could very well be the next PM, and not the Tories, as the number dropped like a large anvil after the Brent elections.

7. Well that's just dandy news.
Blair kisses US right-wing butt, gets butt kicked out by right wing UK. How neat for neocons everywhere.

This SUCKS. And I blame BLAIR. What a tomato head--why couldn't he have stood up to Bush? He talked about "moral courage" in standing against public opinion, but in fact he took the easy route: he caved in to the big US bully. And he was wrong morally AND politically. There WAS no imminent danger, shit head, and YOU could have been the one to stand up and really make that point sink in. If the Brits had dug in their heels... aaaaghh.....!

14. No, that isn't true...
I believe from what I have read that the Liberal Democrats that won the Brent election are in fact left-wing. Labour's support declined, but the Tories support COLLAPSED!

In other words, what seems to be happening is what happened here in NZ when crypto-rightists took over OUR Labour party. Instead of the left losing support, the left GAINED so much support that Labour came to be considered at best a centrist party and at worst a centre-right party, while the local right-wing party became marginalised so far that their chances of winning elections in the future seem pretty much nil.

The fact is, that Labour is losing support because it seems to be TOO right-wing.

11. Surely Blair knew when he slept with Bush his career was over?
Didn't he? I presume he was offered enough money to support him well for life. Otherwise, he is a fool.

16. They don't have to fix it
Blair has won two landlide victories on the trot and has such he quite evidently feels that he is in an unassailable electoral position, particularly with the tories in the utter mess that they are and the Liberal Democrats still a third party.

As such he has been behaving in his second term like somebody who is unaccountable. This has meant that Blair's second term has been a bad thing for the people of Britain as we have a government that point blank refuses to listen to us and instead wastes billions on bombing muslims and rapes our public services with PFI and foundation hostptals.

It is pretty much obvious that Blair should go but forcing him out of office will be a heck of a lot easier said than done due to his position with his parliamentary majority and also, the sycophantic nature of the parliamentary labour party.
