CBS: 60 Minutes 7 p.m. ET tonite... Cheney/Halliburton Exposé
Edited on Sun Sep-21-03 04:37 PM by Flubadubya
I hope this is breaking enough news. Some may not be aware that it will be airing very soon. I saw the promo earlier. They are going to discuss the Halliburton contract issue and Cheney's continuing role in the company. Don't miss it!

Edit for time error in header. It's at 6 p.m. CT... too chronocentric sometimes.

1. The BFEE story is next week.
And the week after that is the story about how the * administration actively punishes malcontents who cross them.

I think they've got their whole fall schedule filled.

7. this administration has provided enough fodder for 60 minutes to last a
generation. Bout time the media starts questioning some of the activities of these buffoons. 60 minutes better not let us down.

2. Is this a first run segment or a rerun?
60 Minutes typically airs reruns before the new season launches.

3. This probably is a re-run...
I didn't catch that fact on the promo, but looking into this, I see that this may be the piece that was aired on 4/27/2003.

Even so, funny that CBS/60 Minutes would find it "appropriate" to air again at this particular time. I don't remember seeing it the first time, so I will certainly not miss it again.

5. Even when they rerun a segment,
I think they update it if something new has happened. This would be a typical example:
"Since we reported this story to you in April 2003, Halliburton has been awarded, without bidding, extensions..."
I'll be watching if I can get my husband to turn the channel off football to CBS.

6. I hate it when they delay 60 minutes because of a game.
Same thing tonight. Somethings don't change. Our society is kind of sports crazy. Time to unplug the TV and sports to wake up Americans from the Matrix.

18. If it reached a few people who were behind the war in April it's worth it.
Every day there are more people who are ready to see, hear, read, and believe the truth. Or, they're tired of being lied to. I'll take either one.

20. All In The Family - CBS 60 Min. report
Almost as soon as the last bomb was dropped over Iraq, the United States began the business of rebuilding the country. As it turns out, it's very big business.

The U.S. will spend approximately $25 billion to repair Iraq by the end of next year - and billions will be needed after that.

Almost all of that money will go to private contractors who vie for lucrative government deals to rebuild Iraq's roads, retrain its police force and operate its airports.

Given all the taxpayer money involved, you might think the process for awarding those contracts would be open and competitive.

But, as 60 Minutes reported last spring, the earliest contracts were given to a few favored companies. And some of the biggest winners in the sweepstakes to rebuild Iraq have one thing in common: lots of very close friends in very high places. Correspondent Steve Kroft reports.
