Car explodes outside Mosul police station

A car has exploded outside a police station in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul, leaving several casualties, witnesses said.

The explosion occurred about 1:35pm local time outside the Al Naser police station in Mosul, according to Amar Ahmad, 41, a university professor.

Professor Ahmad and a colleague, Khalid Mahmud, 47, said the explosion produced several casualties, many of them serious.

There was no official confirmation either from Iraqi authorities or the US military.
