Ralph Reed: GOP Gains on the Line in '04
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

Filed at 8:45 a.m. ET

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Everything Republicans have gained in the past decade is on the line next year, said Ralph Reed, southeastern regional chairman for President Bush's 2004 re-election campaign.

``We are going to be in for the fight of our lives,'' Reed told the National Federation of Republican Women's convention Sunday. ``This is going to be a national effort. We are going to have to go wherever and whenever to do what we have to do.''

Reed, former leader of the Christian Coalition, is a campaign consultant based in Atlanta. He also manages the president's re-election campaign in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana.

He encouraged the nearly 1,300 GOP women gathered in Salt Lake City to work harder, longer and more creatively than their counterparts in the Democratic Party.

1. "Do What We Have to Do"
I am reminded of the scene in The Two Towers at Helm's Deep - "show them no mercy, for you will receive none from them."

12. This is today's conservative philosophy
Whether it be by waging smear campaigns, by disenfranchising voters, or by threatening civil liberties, they seek to obtain power at any cost.

At any cost.

He said that if voters had gone to the polls three days earlier in 2000, Bush could have swept into office, but Democrats managed to get their voters to the polls and the two parties ended up battling for the presidency in Florida.

What happened, Reed said, was Democratic grass-roots organizing.

"Democrats don't believe the real campaign begins until the Friday before the election," he said. "Everything before then is an intramural exercise.

Yeah there's no grass-roots organizing going on. Not even a year before the election.

They are scared - and they should be.

Not to mention it's kind of funny that GOPers are still so blatantly taking marching orders from Enron Ralph.

16. Reed knows how to manipulate his people.
He knows how to tweak them. But Enron is his Achilles heel.

10. Ill Gotten gains are
seldom retained by the recipient, it is, thank God, a part of
the balance of nature. I hope Chicken-Hawk-In-Chief and this
little weezle continue to bond. Another thing about nature is
that misery loves company. Ralph Reed's actions in Georgia in
2002 should have convinced everyone of this man's inability to
be a part of the human race. He is beyond contempt and the man
for whom he is working is rapidly sinking to the same level.

14. GOP on the run
Thing is Elephants don't run very well. The best they can do is throw their weight around. Ever see an elephant scared of a RAT? It's funny.

This campaign is gonna be fun. We RATS have already got the attention of the elephants and now all we gotta do is tweak 'em just right. My only worry is what they will do to the landscape when they get scared.

Maybe it's a good thing we wait till the last moment... that way they won't think they have to do "..whatever it takes..."

There's no end to what oozes up from the muck to join or support this administration. Elliot Abrams in a Human Rights post! Newt is a consultant! Even the ghost of Joe McCarthy's been brought back.
