GOP picks Bush uncle to lead campaign in Missouri
The Columbia Daily Tribune

The road to the White House runs through Missouri, and President George W. Bush’s campaign team this morning unofficially kicked off its re-election effort in the state by announcing its Missouri chairman.

St. Louis attorney Bucky Bush, the uncle of the president, will lead the effort in Missouri. At a news conference in a Jefferson City hotel this morning, he jokingly recalled baby-sitting the president and taking him to his first major league baseball game. He later praised his nephew’s leadership in meeting the challenges of the past three years.

In addition, Bush-Cheney national campaign chairman Marc Racicot rallied the troops, using a football metaphor as he urged a room full of GOP lawmakers, staffers and activists to "block and tackle" for the president. "We intend to work very, very hard organizing and making certain that we carry the message of the president - one of courage and compassion and leadership - to virtually every single Missourian," said Racicot, who is a former chairman of the Republican National Committee. ---

(snip) Elevator industry questions motive for privatization
By WILLIAM YARDLEY

© St. Petersburg Times, published April 18, 2000

TALLAHASSEE -- The task of inspecting elevators in Florida could be turned over to private companies under a plan moving through the Legislature with the support of Gov. Jeb Bush.

The effort to transfer most elevator inspections from a state agency to private companies has some in Florida's elevator industry worrying about public safety and suggesting that the plan is poisoned with politics.

The president of the Elevator Association of Florida has issued a statement suggesting the plan was designed to benefit private elevator inspectors, including a St. Louis company owned in part by William H.T. "Bucky" Bush. He is the uncle of the Florida governor and a fundraiser for Republican presidential candidate Texas Gov. George W. Bush.

"Mr. William "Bucky' Bush has indicated that he is aware of the bill and would place an office in the state of Florida once this bill passes," Theodore Baranowski, president of the Elevator Association of Florida, wrote in a statement circulated to state lawmakers this week. "This now seems to put the safety of persons riding on elevators under the political whims of heavy donors to certain parties."

Reached late Monday, "Bucky" Bush said the charges are ridiculously false. "That whole line of thinking is very annoying and very insulting," he said.(snip/...)

6. You know...
They don't allow relatives to work in the same department in alot of work places.

I THINK THERE SHOULD BE A FRIGGIN LAW TO PREVENT RELATIVES WORKING TOGETHER IN POLITICAL OFFICES TOO.

This is just RETARDED.

Him, his dad, his cousin, his uncle, his three legged dog, his great aunt, his third cousin twice removed, his parakeet.

"Poppy" Bush, "Bucky" Bush, "Phony" Bush (currently serving as FL GV., and of course (insert your "-y" ending diminutive here) Bush, currently occupying the Oval Office.

Frankly, I'm torn about my choice for the Resident - It's down to "Pokey", "Cokey" or "Dopey". Any suggestions?

13. Eeewwww
I hope that press conference wasn't held at the hotel where I work part-time. Ick.

Missouri went for Bush by only 3% in 2000. We could easily go the other way this time. Bill Clinton got MO's electoral votes in both '92 and '96. Unlike Bush himself, people here really do know that saying about getting fooled twice. I don't think Bush will fool people again.
