Gulf War vets risk paralyzing disease (ALS - Lou Gehrig's)
http://www.msnbc.com/news/970122.asp?0cv=CB10

Veterans of the 1991 Gulf War may have an unusually high risk of a deadly and incurable nerve disease called ALS, or Lou Gehrig’s disease, according to two U.S. studies published on Monday.

WHILE ALS is far from common among the veterans, it has appeared more than expected and at younger-than-usual ages, the separate studies found.

One of the studies was done by Dr. Robert Haley, of the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas —who has found much if not most of the published medical evidence supporting the idea of Gulf War Syndrome.

A second study by the U.S Department of Veterans Affairs and National Institutes of Health reaches similar conclusions. Both were published in the journal Neurology.

1. This is a real sin....
Our government knows something about this. I'll bet you anything WE used stuff over there that could have caused Gulf War Syndrome. But they ain't telling because it is "national security". AND they don't want to pay for what they did.

Vets are cannon fodder. That is all they are to these people. I can't understand why so many military vote for these bozos. Don't they realize how they are used? Look what they are doing to the troops in Iraq right now.

4. I just found out a neighbor was in the Gulf War...he's been ill for
10 years....he's deteriorating. His face is bloated, both legs are bandaged. He's weak in the lower half of his body. He can hardly stand. They really can't do anything for him. He says the Vet Admin. has been OK with him, but nothing is helping him. He says he hopes for 10 more years if he's lucky. He has a little girl.

It's really so sad!!!!
