Demonstrators want Saddam back
Fallujah - About 250 people demonstrated in this flashpoint Iraqi town late on Monday carrying portraits of ousted president Saddam Hussein and demanding his return to power, an AFP reporter said.

"Saddam, be confident that Fallujah is the mother of free men," "We will not abandon either Iraq or Saddam," chanted the marchers, who raised a banner reaffirming allegiance to "the mujahid (struggler) leader and Arab hero Saddam Hussein."

Other young residents of the Sunni Muslim bastion, 50km west of Baghdad, demonstrated on motorcycles.

The young militants, their faces masked in keffiyehs (headdresses), brandished both rocket-propelled grenades and hand grenades.

Sheep were slaughtered in the center of the town and shots were fired in the air.

Maybe someone told them that an American Puppet Iraqi Council is selling their countries resources to foreigners.

2. Just another proof ...
... that Iraqis are now free to voice their opinion.

3. That must be a *huge* relief
to those who have no electrical power, no clean drinking water, no vote, no permission to walk their own streets after dark, no minimally acceptable level of medical care, no way to support their family....

5. Actually, Bremer has issued an edict that anti-"coalition" demonstrations
are illegal. So much for your grasp at things "being better in Iraq now".

Obviously, if the troops tried to enforce the ban, they would be shot.
