USA Today: Social Security sales job gears up
WASHINGTON — The Bush administration launched an offensive Wednesday to rebut warnings that public qualms and opposition in Congress have doomed President Bush's plan to overhaul Social Security.

Treasury Secretary John Snow said he, Bush and other administration officials will spend the next two months barnstorming the country to try to build support for Bush's plan to allow younger workers to divert some payroll taxes into stocks and bonds.

The tour, dubbed "60 stops in 60 days," begins with a speech by Snow today in Arkansas. On Friday, Bush will travel to New Jersey and Indiana.

Sen. Conrad Burns, R-Mont., said the administration hasn't convinced Americans that Social Security is in crisis. Asked what it would take to do so, he said, "A little salesmanship."

1. Why is it legal for us taxpayers to pay
for the govt to lie to us about social security?

I would vote for that money to be used to keep social security solvent.

Besides I don't think the average person should have to give up social security until after the richest 1% give back all of the money they stole (in the form of Bush's tax cuts) from the surplus Bush inherited!

2. Please accept. Bush is a corporate globalist
He has no concern for American workers. He could never even identify with them. He'll sell us out without a second thought. If he can turn over our taxes to Wall Street, he would have repaid his donors.

The only guaranteed profit in Bush's scheme is to Wall Street. Any profit to the rest of us is on a speculative basis where we could profit or lose.
