U.S. must address global warming, Bush ally says
Former U.S. Secretary of State James Baker, a close ally of the Bush family, broke ranks with the Bush administration on Thursday and called for the United States to get serious about global warming.

Baker, in a speech to an audience that included a number of oil company executives, said "orderly" change to alternative energy was needed.

"It may surprise you a little bit, but maybe it's because I'm a hunter and a fisherman, but I think we need to a pay a little more attention to what we need to do to protect our environment," he told the Houston Forum Club.

"When you have energy companies like Shell and British Petroleum, both of which are perhaps represented in this room, saying there is a problem with excess carbon dioxide emission, I think we ought to listen," Baker said.

Baker ran presidential campaigns for George Bush and served in his Cabinet and led George W. Bush's controversial legal fight to win the Florida vote in the 2000 election.

1. we are addressing it
Edited on Thu Mar-03-05 10:01 PM by Warren Stupidity
we are attempting to falsify the theory's assumptions by increasing our greenhouse gas emissions without bound or regulation. Hell at the same time we are going to prove those stupid 'limited energy peak oil resource nutcases' dead wrong by demonstrating that G*d in fact provided an infinite amount of oil for his children to consume.

Just wait. You'll see.

3. Arctic evidence 'shows Kyoto need'
NEW and compelling scientific evidence of climate change in the Arctic showed why all industrialised countries should sign the Kyoto Protocol, Labor said today.
Opposition environment spokesman Anthony Albanese highlighted the work by a Canadian research team which analysed the sediments of 55 Arctic lakes.

The team was able to look back in time to see what aquatic communities of algae, water fleas and insect larvae were like over many thousands of years.
Mr Albanese quoted the lead researcher, Professor John Smol of Canada's Queens University, as saying the aquatic communities remained almost stable until the mid-1800s when changes began to take hold. The most dramatic shift occurred in the past 30 years.

The team speculated the timing of the changes pointed to human interference and said one of the main ways for this to happen was through climate warming.

8. Fuck you, Jimbo - who the FUCK CARES, Consigliere?
It's largely thanks to you that this boatload of clowns ended up docking at 1600 Pennsylvania.

And now, four years and change after your crowbars, slim jims, 3-in-1 oil and close personal friendships with various and sundry Supremes put this sorry-ass dumpsterload of oil company sucks in charge, you're going all green on us?

Maybe you'll make it for your boy Chimpy's next Earth Day "policy" speech. He'll stand in front of a tree and talk all about how voluntary programs will make everything all better, and we won't even have to give up our Ford Excrescences or Dodge Smilodons, cuz we're 'Murcans and in 'Murca we get to drive whatever we want.

Then when the cameras stop you can brush the pine needles off your Tony Lamas and get back in the limo and SHUT THE FUCK UP.

9. Bush hates environmental restrictions
If it's for consumption and profit, he says go for it. He could care less if our kids see the beauty of a national forest, or clear blue skies.

11. Gee, That's Nice, Baker
Edited on Fri Mar-04-05 02:46 AM by Bark Bark Bark
Meanwhile, the MSM is pushing opinions assuring us that, while global warming IS real (um, now), its consequences will be either beneficial or nonexistent, and the current catastrophic weather situation worldwide is No Big Deal Honest.

But thank you for your quiet little squeak in support of reality.

14. It's not guilt or environmentalism
It's not guilt or environmentalism that's causing this sorry bucket of pigshit to suggest that we pay attention to global warming. He's one of the smarter individuals in the cabal. He knows that the oil is running out. He just wants to be one of the first to get a toehold on alternative energy so that he can monopolize it and make billions when the oil runs out. Hey, 100 years ago, they had to switch from horses to cars, and it wasn't easy, but it was done. And it made rich men richer, especially the ones who saw what was happening and invested accordingly. Never take your eye off the Money Ball with this group.
