Millions Without Power in Denmark, Sweeden

September 23, 2003, 11:57 AM EDT

COPENHAGEN, Denmark -- A power outage struck the capital of Denmark and southern Sweden on Tuesday afternoon, leaving nearly 4 million people without electricity, authorities said.

Utility officials said the outage, caused by a faulty transmission line between the two countries, was being repaired and most customers would likely have power restored before nightfall.

Police did not suspect sabotage or terrorism.

Is this starting to get a little creepy?? First the Northeastern US, then London, now Denmark/Norway?

Maybe my tinfoil hat is on a little tight, but why are all these major power outages in so-called "First World" countries happening within weeks of each other?

Does the Bush Administration set Energy policy in these countries too?

1. yeah, that thought occured to me, too, SM
don't know if there's anything to it, but it's worth keeping an eye on... the thing that strikes me is the chances that this would happen on the same scale in the same year, in the span of a few months. The chances of that happening are fairly large, IMHO.

3. It's no coincidence...
I'm sure the same people who brought us the US & UK blackout are responsible.

I just read in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, that the water company that supplies my water, is German owned. Tin foil or not, this is scary.

Don't forget, Maggie Thatcher let Enron take over their electric utilities!

2. hummm.....isn't it odd......
......makes me wonder about these CME's all the more...because that's what happens when ol' Sol blows....but it's not being mentioned as a possible cause for these outages at all :tinfoilhat: time maybe...maybe not?

4. Easy now...
... the first storm of the fall apparently knocked down some vital connections which brought the electricity on island of Zealand, where Copenhagen is situated, and the southern part of Sweden to its knees.

I was "fortunate" enough to be stuck on a train for around 2 hours, before the staff had enough and sent people away in cabs on the train company's bill. It then took a further 2 hours to get back from my destination since the place I was going to had litereally shut down as they didn't expect any power any time soon.

:eyes:

on edit...this is a cause of power grids to be disabled in an isntant when the ejections *electromagnetic in nature* reach earth....we have a probe up there now suposedly taking samples of sun stuff....if there was a conspiracy to concider...this makes me wonder because the sun has been showing massive coronal mass ejections waaay beyond it's normal cycles....and could easily cause just this kind of outage....why this isn't even being concidered as a reason...seems like THAT could be reason to don the :tinfoilhat: as well...IMHO

5. Any predictions on who is next?
Also, it seems as though news of these outages are being suppressed by the usual suspects in the media.
