9/11 convict denounces 'unfair' sentence - protest his innocence
Hamburg - The Moroccan man convicted of suppporting the September 11 suicide hijackers returned to court on Tuesday to protest his innocence and denounce the case against him.

Mounir El Motassadeq, the only man convicted in connection with the 2001 attacks, appeared in the Hamburg courtroom where he had been sentenced to 15 years in February, to testify in the trial of Abdelghani Mzoudi.

"I've been unfairly sentenced to 15 years in jail," the 29-year-old student said in a tone markedly more bitter than when he was last in court.

'I was not part of that'

Mzoudi, a 30-year-old electrical engineering student, is charged with 3 066 counts of aiding and abetting murder, and membership of the Hamburg-based al Qaeda cell that prosecutors say led the attacks on New York and Washington, the same charges Motassadeq faced.
