'No WMD in Iraq', source claims
"No weapons of mass destruction have been found in Iraq by the group tasked with looking for them, according to a Bush administration source who has spoken to the BBC's Daily Politics.

The programme's presenter Andrew Neil says this is the conclusion of the Iraq Survey Group's interim report, due to be published next month.

Mr Neil said the report is also set to say it was highly unlikely that weapons were shipped out of the country before the US-led war on Iraq.
He said it will also claim that Saddam Hussein mounted a huge programme to deceive and hinder the work of US weapons inspectors.

Mr Neil, a former editor of the Sunday Times, stressed the Daily Politics had not seen the draft report, and was reporting what a single source had said its findings were likely to be."

2. This might explain

that rather curious remark in dubya's UN speech yesterday which went something like, (the Kay report) ..will reveal the true extent of the Regime's deception...

I thought that was a strange phrasing and this post sort of explains why.

edited for emphasis

3. Why a "huge programme" to hide what they didn't have?
This account doesn't make sense.

Also: "He said it will also claim that Saddam Hussein mounted a huge programme to deceive and hinder the work of US weapons inspectors." The only "US" inspectors came into Iraq after Hussein was deposed. Do they mean "UN" inspectors?

8. The Answer is Very Simple !

Saddam destroyed all his WMD's after the 1991 Gulf War.

Then he lied about it so the US and the rest of the world would be afraid to
attack him.

It's that simple.

Then Cheney and Rumsfeld found out the intelligence showed he did not
have any WMD's. So they created the (OSP) office of special plans, and they
said he has WMD's. Then they used the bogus made up intelligence to justify
their illegal invasion of Iraq.

It's that simple.

9. Report was to be published 9/15 - but is being held up for a re-write
And our media does not care - GOP can do no wrong is their mantra.

And they surely can not quote from a courtesy advance copy they might have received, now can they?
