U.S. May Send More Soldiers to Iraq
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

Published: September 24, 2003

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The United States may have to alert thousands more National Guard and Reserve troops within weeks that they are needed for duty in Iraq, the Pentagon's second-ranking general said Wednesday.

The Bush administration still hopes that Turkey, India, Pakistan or South Korea will contribute thousands of troops for security duty in Iraq, said Marine Corps Gen. Peter Pace, vice chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

But military planners are not counting on it.

``Hope is not a plan,'' Pace said in an interview with a group of reporters at a Washington hotel.

2. No troops from India.....posted an article on this last night
in the World Media Watch....link is below in my sig and the whole thing is also at Buzzflash today...

And since we're buddies with Pakistan, they're not impressed with the US proposal for an "axis" against terrorists in India's neighborhood, either.

5. Get your excuses ready for the draft board
Fake gay doesn't seem to work so well, nor does fake Quaker. I think getting drugged up is one possibility, but I think the best option would be to eat so much that you become obese and are "too fat" to serve.

12. Start bulking up, eh? Get so big that they ain't got a uniform to fit you?
Never even considered that one. I am not too sure about it either? Being overweight is really hard on the heart (and I know bullets are too). Plus. Its a lot easier to put weight on than it is to take it off. I can put on 3 pounds just looking at a piece of coconut whipped cream pie, but I have to work like hell to lose 3 pounds. Got to be a better way.

14. Easy. I beat the draft in '71 with a lottery number of 12!
If you have ever been into meditation, you can control your blood pressure fairly easily. Every time they wrap the cuff around your arm imagine a gun pinted at head and go from there.

My BP was always high at the physical but it wasn't constant. They kept me there for a week trying to see if I was doing speed and they finally gave up and let me go home.

Get yourself a cuff and start rehearsing. You can do it!

You don't gotta get fat or go to Canada. Just get your daddy to get you in the state national guard. You can learn to fly obsolete planes and don't have to report for duty for months at a time. Its easy.

11. And before you are drafted, volunteer...
Navy has very few people IN Iraq, mostly in specialties like medical, construction, and religious programs.
Coast Gaurd has even fewer.
Air Farce has very few also.
Join the Navy, spend the Iraq occupation out to sea...all the amenities of prison, plus the chance of drowning.

19. Sorry HawkerHurricane I was going to
say something about long soapyyyyy showers but then I saw who posted the join the Navy.

On point on the Navy, they do still have their OWN cooks and do not have to depend on Dickie's company OR OR OR ONLY MREs for food.

20. haha
Actually, do to fresh water shortages underway, long showers are impossible. There's a guy with a stopwatch, you've got 1 minute. Water comes in two temperatures, hot and live steam.

But the food is there, and you get a matress, and most ships have air conditioned sleeping areas. And, the best part, on the way there and back you get to visit places (last trip, I visted Darwin Australia, Singapore and Hong Kong. The trip before, it was Pataya Thailand, Hong Kong, Sidney and Adelaide Australia)

23. We already did that to the population of LAOS
They are here, cleaning toilets, changing motel sheets and killing, packaging and wrapping cows.

They also will work for $5.15 per hour.

They have no benefits, but they get free medical treatment at the hospitals, because they cannot be turned away. They are happy and their American born children are growing up to be doctors and lawyers.
The average white person calls them racial epithets.

Bring em on all 26 million Iraqis.

22. Draft resolutions have been in committee in the House...
...and the Senate for quite a while.

Do a search on "draft" at this site:

<http://thomas.loc.gov/>

Neither proposal offers any deferments and both will draft men and women.

26. No shortage of people still flocking to and joining the military . . .
. . . according to my sister who is married to a career military man.
I mentioned my concerns about the draft to her this morning and
she assured me that the military is still signing with no end in sight.
She thinks it is a direct result of the economy. With a shortage of jobs
in the real world and attractive signing bonuses offered by the military,
I imagine there are a lot of people with no other option. Now that's sad. :(
