5. That's the first thing that came to my mind-
think they're pissed off much about having their own media suspended? Every day in every way, this situation just gets better and better. Jeez, what a mess.

He is saying that the military is afraid of secondary explosions that are set to kill GIs when they rush to aid the wounded from the first explosion.

13. Bob Arnot has done a series of "success" stories from Iraq...
I wonder how he's going to spin this into the latest accomplishment of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Cue the music. Live from a Baghdad barber shop, it's Dr. Bob Arnot with can't you feel the Iraqi love for the American occupation!

Arnot was trying to lead the guy with questions, and the guy was not having it. the guy was basically like, "why are news agencies in this neighborhood anyway? why don't you leave?" and Arnot just had to change the subject...

Arnot is such a tool.

18. The Fat Anal Cyst was pushing the current puke lying point today:
that poll numbers are plummeting for aWol and his war because all the media covers is the tiny bits of bad news, but not the monster hordes of good news. Then he overwhelmed my capacity for disgust by noting that all of the terra attacks in the sandy debacle are directed away from western journalists, so they can keep tearing down poor Shrub.

I guess the Clear Channel oligopoly extends even to Iraq's air waves, and the terra gangs had to straighten him out.

To quote another poster's favorite description, Flush is ten pounds of shit in a five pound bag.

20. Where's CNN???
I turned on the "Continuing Coverage" nearly 30 minutes ago...and both Faux and CNN are still re-runing the Debatinator.

Looks like this story doesn't rate on the competition. Maybe if Arnot had been blown to bits, then there'd be something to report.

A friend used to be his producer at CBS in the 90's...said the guy's a real "work"...vain as the day is long and doesn't care what he says or who he steps on to get his mug on the screen. A true definition of a media whore.

No organizations with ties to the West are safe in Iraq, so get out.

This isn't going to change no matter if we sent 200 trillion dollars and 100 million men.

Bomb next to al-Aike Hotel where NBC-TV has offices, one killed

By Tarek Al-Issawi, Associated Press, 9/25/2003 01:09

BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) A bomb place one yard from the outside wall of the al-Aike Hotel in south- central Baghdad killed a guard. The NBC television network had offices in the hotel.

Iraqi police said the bomb was placed in a hut that housed the hotel's generator.

Lt. Col. Salman Kareem said the bomb killed a Somali guard in his sleep. Damage to the hotel was minimal he said and it was mainly broken glass.

NBC correspondent Jim Avila said there were no signs on the building indicating NBC had quarters there.

28. Update...
The latest...a 10 - 15 pound bomb outside the hotel that serves as the "NBC Bureau" in Baghdad.

A couple of questions...

1.) Is NBC the only foreign media outlet operating in that hotel or in that general location?

2.) Why NBC? It doesn't have the international reach or prestige of a BBC or CNN.

3.) Are small bombings like this common every day in Baghdad? I keep hearing that the city's one large armed camp with lots of small militias and private security roaming the city. Could NBC just have been in the wrong building at the wrong time?

4.) I know it's late at night, but why wasn't there any coverage on Faux or CNN? There were pix available (I'm sure NBC would gladly pool them...Arnot loves to get his mug everywhere. Was this because it was a competitor? An effort to keep "bad news" down?

I've long predicted American TV crews are sitting ducks for attacks...especially now with live sat phones and unedited coverage. The bleeding in this country is just beginning, and sadly much of it will be live and in color in our living rooms.

32. NBC's Tim Russert called the win for Bush election night 2000
at the prodding of CEO Jack Welch who stood there (off camera) to make sure he did.
So you can put away any illusions that they haven't already had the memo for 3 years.
