Extended War Duty Leaves Guardsmen Searching for Exit/tbo
http://news.tbo.com/news/MGAJ7X190LD.html

<snip>
WASHINGTON - They left homes and families in Florida more than 10 months ago, many with barely a day of notice. They have done just about everything expected of American soldiers in Iraq.
<snip>

<snip>
Now these members of Florida's National Guard want to come home - and quit.
<snip>

<snip>
``Most of my soldiers are going to get out because they cannot handle going through this again,'' said Capt. Blake Glass, a home builder from Tampa who commands a company of 114 Guard troops based in Orlando.
<snip>

<snip>
``We're not expecting a mass exodus,'' Tittle said. ``But it's really too early to tell.''

1. I am expecting an exodus
by the way this is a gift on a silver platter.

By this destruction of the Army, the Neo Cons have proven
to be dangerous for National Security.

Yes now this is an issue that the democrats can apropriate.

6. I really feel sorry for the men and women in the Guard
My Clear Channel radio station was playing a NG commercial last week telling kids to join the Guard. College education, monthly income, and PART TIME work!

I wonder how kids will join the military because there are no jobs out there.

3. What a sugar coated load of cr*p...
Quote: "``Our Guard and reservists have been stretched thin,'' Nelson said. ``For many who put their primary careers on hold, it may be harder to convince them to sign up for uncertainty.'' "

Quote: "``We'll tell them, `Why get out now?' '' Tittle said. ``When people return, that's when we know what the situation is. Will they get pressure from employers? Will they get pressure from families? Or will they feel better once they get back and settled?''"
* * * *

What is so uncertain? Every soldier should expect a second deployment and when Iraq is done with we will attack someone else if Bush is still in office. I don't see what is so uncertain.

They will quit because they are tired of getting jerked around and they are tired of going off to war with the belief that they are going to help a nation and it's people and then the US government doesn't hold up their end of the bargain.

That poor interviewed soldier can't even tell the truth. He has to sugar coat all of his words so as not to open himself to punishment under military doctrine.

4. There WILL be a mass exodus.......
I know I'd be out...I expect 3/4 of guardsman to quit but that may be what the Neocons want...So they can show we NEED the Draft!!!!!!!!...Then you will see our society unravel on a scale like never before with the riots, refusal to serve and rallys...Mass chaos could ensue and Martial Law could be called into place and there ya have it....We are in Nazi Germany!!!!!Well, that shit will at least not go down up here in AK....But I can see it happening..I know of no one who would actually report if drafted.

5. Quaker House, War Resisters League...
and a hundred other organizations are gearing up for it.

I hope we're gearing up enough.
