Commissioners protest federal voting mandate
some are figuring out the other pieces of the BBV puzzle..

snip
A federal mandate could force counties across the state to spend millions of dollars to purchase new voting machines -- a measure Delaware County commissioners and the board of elections believe is not in the best interest of voters

snip
"We have a lot more questions than answers at this point," he said, "Delaware County has a lot of other demands to meet, instead of spending money that we really don't have on a federal directive that we are not sure if we are going to be reimbursed (for)."

snip
In a letter to Blackwell, the commissioners wrote, "In order to ensure that we can proceed with the implementation, we must have a guarantee of federal funds to ease the financial burden this could place on counties." The letter also said, " ... moving forward without testing and having full trust and confidence in the system jeopardizes the voting process."

snip
The local board of elections also submitted a letter to Blackwell asking his office to help repeal the act. It believes the quick implementation of the act is "fraught with danger."

3. Sounds like they are
just concerned with $$$$$ rather than the fact these machines are riggable.

4. I just e-mailed
the reporter on this story and gave her links to do a follow-up on the insecurity of electronic voting. Then I e-mailed the article to some friends in Delaware County and asked them to call their commissioners and BOE.

Every little bit helps.....as Bev would say..drip,drip,drip

Ms. den Broder,

Thank you so much for your tip! I will definitely look into it and
