No End in Sight for Lumber Mill Strike (WV)
Edited on Mon Mar-21-05 08:45 PM by struggle4progress
Monday marked the 10th day of a strike at a lumber mill in Greenbrier County, and union officials said no resolution is in sight.

Members of the Southern Council of Industrial Workers Union, Carpenters Local 2528 walked off their jobs at Meadow River Hardwood Lumber last week over an increase in health insurance payments. Of the 63 employees at the Rainelle mill, 50 are on strike. <snip>

The main issue is the change in health insurance premiums after Georgia-Pacific sold the company to Meadow River. Other issues involve the overtime structure, and the amount of paid holidays and funeral leave. <snip>
