3. This could work either way.
Davis could hound him and Ah-null would keep ducking avoiding him, thereby looking like a coward. Go Davis.

4. Was it really a challenge?
I was listening also, and what I (thought I) heard was that Davis suggested he MIGHT challenge Arnold to a debate because he had distorted Davis' record so much.

In any case, I think it is a wonderful idea, and Davis should make it a formal challenge and repeat it every day until either the election or Arnold accedes, which IMHO is highly unlikely.

7. Arnold doesn't want to debate males, he just wants to insult women!
Davis aides, however, suggested the (Terminator 4) line might have been the work of Mike Murphy, a strategist for Mr. Schwarzenegger who advised Rick Lazio in his losing Senate campaign against Hillary Clinton in 2000. Mr. Lazio got in hot water with women's groups when he appeared overly aggressive toward Ms. Clinton in a debate.

Mr. Murphy did not return calls today. A spokesman for Mr. Schwarzenegger acknowledged that advisers had helped Mr. Schwarzenegger script some responses for the debate, but could not say whether the "Terminator" remark was one of them.

Everyone in California's DU should print out a hundred of 'Naked Arnold' pictures on their computer printers, and hand them out free at each and every 'Maplethorpinator' event, until election time.

21. BigTime Bad Idea....
Repig paid pundits and newscasters would rip Davis apart before the start of the debate and after, for months to come. Pig Ahnnol will be clared winner before and after, just like the nazi media repigs did to Prez Gore, and how they continue to do to Prez Clinton.

The only candidate the nazi repig newscaster hold back on is Dean. They don't have real red meat on Dean even though, they try to dirty his character. I'm for Dr. Dean because he's the only one who hates little man bushie as much as I do. Dr. Dean Loves America as much as I do. My Vote for Dr. Dean.

Keeping Arnold out of this, why would any one of the candidates debate Davis? It can't help them. Davis is grasping at straws and the voters will speak soon enough.

18. man you took the words right out of mouth. somedays I wish
my background was clean enough to run for prez. I would get up there and tell the the truth. like when they ask about balancing the budget, I'd tell them I'm cutting everything, fireman, police, healthcare for the old, and young. there not going to be any upgrading anything, and when they ask why I'd do that. I'd tell them hell that's what you want, the people don't want to pay taxes, so if you don't pay taxes you don't get benefits.

I get so tired of hearing how we're the most over taxed people in the world, and how it holds down the people from making progress. well if that is so then how in the hell do we have the most productive economy in the world. hell we're not paying anything close to some of the other economies, but all you hear is bitching. hell so I say why not show the folks exactly what they are getting for the buck.

20. So much for Arnold's value as a movie tough guy.
How can Arnold keep his image as a tough guy after showing yellow like this? He's spoiling Predator and The Terminator for me. The value of all of Arnold's "tough guy" movie products looks tenuous.

Now, odds are that Arnold is both going to lose in the recall, and lose any claim he ever had to being anything but a dumb, "closet coward."

25. Why should Davis debate Arnold?
He is the one facing the recall. I think he should be entitled to a forum all to himself. Though I like seeing Arnold ducking a debate challenge, I believe that since there is a separate vote for the recall, Davis should be allowed to present his case by himself for noting no on the recall.

30. I dunno, but...
some friends and I walked in there after hours. I said it stunk like Karl Rove, they said that we "looked like Democrats."

Some snappy comebacks went back and forth. They claimed to have security cameras trained on us for some reason. Friend counters: "You paranoid conservatives! Well, we're taping you too."

I hold up my little device and snickered.

The place was exceedingly creepy, very Albert Speer.

33. I saw a story
on excite.com with a headline like >arnold refused debate>, its completely disappeared. A web search shows no story with a headline similar, looks like it has been scrubbed. The media is not the least bit neutral and that is one of our country's biggest problems today.

Schwarzenegger declines Davis debate challenge
Saturday, September 27, 2003

By ERICA WERNER
Associated Press Writer

WEST HOLLYWOOD -- Gov. Gray Davis directly challenged Arnold Schwarzenegger to a showdown Friday, calling on the actor to get his facts right and debate him as he rallied the support of women. It is the most direct confrontation the governor has made during the campaign leading up to the Oct. 7 recall election and came as Schwarzenegger drew the support of another conservative Republican politician. Schwarzenegger's campaign said he wouldn't debate Davis.

"Right here, right now, I challenge him to a debate," Davis said. He accused Schwarzenegger of distorting his record on such issues as taxes, health care and jobs and of misstating facts about California's problems. Former Texas Gov. Ann Richards warmed up the pro-Davis crowd, calling on Davis not to let Schwarzenegger's statements go unchallenged.

"Call him out," she declared.

Schwarzenegger will refuse the challenge, campaign spokesman Sean Walsh said. Schwarzenegger picked up the support Friday of the Republican congressman who bankrolled the recall effort. Rep. Darrell Issa's announcement, at Schwarzenegger's campaign headquarters, appeared to have little effect, however, on state Sen. Tom McClintock.

McClintock unveiled a new campaign ad in Sacramento and said Schwarzenegger should step aside in favor of him. Issa said Schwarzenegger is the only candidate positioned to end what he called the failed policies of Davis and other Democrats.

"Without a doubt," Issa said, "only one man has been able to stand above the rest to make it clear that there will be a direction change away from the pay-to-play Bustamante-Davis way of doing business." The latter reference was a swipe at Lt. Gov. Cruz Bustamante, who has been in a virtual dead heat in some recent polls with Schwarzenegger among candidates to replace Davis.

over AHH-nold refusing Davis debate

quote:"Who the hell does he think he is? As an actor he knows you have to audition for parts and a debate is a political audition - does he think he's too good to debate? The only debate he was in he got creamed by Huffington and had the questions in advance... does this idiot need a script before going on stage? God help California if he becomes the governor,,,,,"

Just a thought, if Ahh-nold becomes governor could California have a "TOTAL RECAL"?
