Blades can still escape airport security checks
Associated Press

WASHINGTON -- It's still possible for someone to sneak a blade onto a commercial plane, the head of the Transportation Security Administration acknowledged today.

But the problem isn't related to airport screeners. It's the technology that's lacking, said James Loy, who nonetheless has trimmed the agency's research budget.

"I don't dispute the fact that you can get a blade of a boxcutter set on edge through the system," Loy said during a briefing with reporters. "That is a technology issue more than it's a screener performance issue."

Government officials believe the 19 Sept. 11 hijackers used boxcutters to commandeer the four jets that crashed that day

Bottomline is instead of increasing money for security the Bush administration has decreased it! I do know one thing if I'm on a plane with a terrorist I'm not sitting there I'm going to fight them!

1. Getting weapons aboard
When I'm in line at the airport, I look over all the carry-on luggage people have and I can imagine at least 6 different kinds of weapons I can make from integral parts of the luggage itself.

If they banned carry-on, I bet there are weapons to be made from clothing and shoes.

The only safe way of traveling might be to issue paper clothing for passengers to wear on the trip and shipping their clothing as luggage. This would also require that eyeglasses, hearing aids, and dentures be shipped with the clothing.

Then there's the pacemaker problem. What if someone smuggled a bomb aboard disguised as a pacemaker or maybe an artificial hip? Could it be that flying will never be 100% safe? Maybe all that hassle at the airport is only stopping the real nut cases.

2. Lets just sit back and have More Airplanes be used as Missiles
to attack us with! I don't think sitting back and relaxing is a good idea! Homeland Security is a Joke! :bounce:
