Condi says invasion wasn't preemptive: we have been at
a low level of war for 12 years, so it was just escalated a little. She reiterates that Sadam had ties with al Quada. And we need to have Iraq democralizing. NOt sure of the spelling, but democralizing? Strange word. That means it will be continuing to become a democracy forever.

Boy, these people can lie. How come no one asks why they can't have an election in Iraq soon? They've had elections for decades, seems they have the process down pretty good to me!

22. SHE IS A LIAR AND A LAPDOG OF HER CORPORATE MASTERS
Edited on Sun Sep-28-03 12:11 PM by saigon68
Condominium Rice is also a lot of other things.

She is dressing on the cake, to make the average non-traditional corporate person feel that he /she has a place in the new corporate society.

In fact, there is a place for people of color----that is Prison and 1 1/2 million young men of color are living there--- thanks to the police/prison bureaucracy that the corporate culture has produced. </sarcasm>

Edit: add sarcasm tag

4. YOU MADE A GOOD DECISION
I am screaming at the tv. CONDI is lying, contradicting herself. Time Russert not pointing it out either. He's asking the right questions but letting her just flat out lie and not going in for the kill. he always lets those rats weasel out of it.

and even said that it was only three months later... only three months after Tenet said the Niger claim should be dropped... that they decided to put it into Bush's SOU speech anyway. By then they had forgotten that Tenet had advised against it. :grr:

Short memory for such a "smart" woman, wouldn't you say? Boy, things really have to be bad when they use the "amnesia defense", because they know the alternative is between looking absolutely incompetent and being caught (dead to rights) lying about criminal activities. :puke:

Anytime a pol uses the "I forgot" fiction they might as well be wearing an "I'm lying" sticker on their forehead.

8. This is the new spin, heard Wolfowitz say the same things,
the bastard had the gall to say that Iraq declared war on us because they were shooting at our planes! Our planes that were flying in their air space, dropping bombs on them. He also used 9/11 as an excuse and said we were bringing democracy. He played up the human rights angle also. Maybe if you say enough things enough times people will fall for it.

Edited on Sun Sep-28-03 10:56 AM by nu_duer
to force a particular form of government on a sovereign nation? God?

And if "bringing democracy" is reason enough to invade another nation, then when do we attack China?

God, even these criminals lies are shoddy.

12. More lies from a mouthpiece
of the Shrub. The whole administration lies and not a one of them can keep their stories straight. They will twist and turn their stories until the public has gotten so dizzy they can't tell who they are voting for. Isn't that the aim of this administration...get another term to wreck more damage upon this country while they get rich by robbing the treasury in the process?

15. I agree.
Conda-liar is nothing more than a lightweight. Her name is being used as a doormat here at the DU. I think the problem is, they are all living with a problem they themselves created.

The lies were crafted long ago. They huddled and agreed on what was to be said, and who would say it. They've gotten into trouble more than once, and they have changed their stories more than once (after more huddling).

Their problem now, is that they are obligated to continue the "spin". To bail out now would spell disaster. The entire world is watching and waiting. They have no alternative but to keep lying and keeping their fingers crossed that they won't get into trouble again.

I can't imagine the feelings of dread each and every one of them must feel as they drift off to sleep each night. The panic, the remorse (NOT for the lost lives, mind you, but for their own asses)

18. I saw the interview and Russert was harsh
One very tough question after another. From her role in the yellowcake mess, to WMDS, to outing Wilson's CIA wife, to the cost of the reconstruction. Russert even followed up a few times which is new for him. He kept coming back to--if we were wrong about the WMDs, would anyone have supported this war? Condi kept repeating the Kay report, the Kay report.

He could have been much harsher, but he was harsh enough, in my view.

36. She's Right
The U.S. gov't has been involved in a low-intensity war in Iraq for a long time. It started with the (unjust) attack on Iraq in 1991, continued with sanctions, periodic bombings, puppet "inspections", assistance to Iraqi rebels and illegal no-fly zones; and picked up intensity again with the 2003 invasion.

Of course, even if you dismiss all this stuff, this war can't properly be called "preemptive". A preemptive strike is when you attack someone who's almost certain to attack you in the immediate future.

In a warped sense, it could be seen as a "preventative" war of the sort that right-wingers in the U.S. clamored for against the Soviet Union. But that's not right either. It was an imperialist adventure, period.
