DeLay remains confident

By STEPHEN PALKOT Monday, April 11, 2005 12:45 PM CDT

In the face of national criticism, U.S. Rep. Tom DeLay, R-Sugar Land, says he remains confident of his support in the district that has elected him for the past 20 years.

Fevered opposition is hardly new to DeLay, who is the second-ranking member of the House of Representatives and a steadfast conservative.

However, a recent spate of stories in the Washington Post, a segment on "60 Minutes" and reports on other major outlets have placed DeLay in the national spotlight like few times before, with new allegations appearing in the pages of national papers seemingly on a weekly basis.

.....

"The Democrats are trying to stop our agenda and they have quite an organization to do that, including funding from George Soros," DeLay said. "And many of the liberal papers like the Houston Chronicle buy into it. It's just, they have no ideas. They have no ideas, no solutions to problems everyone's facing right now."

I hope he's around to make some more embarassing mistakes... so we can use him and his widespread support from his fellow congresslime as an issue to flog them with next year.

They think you are gonna drag them down, so their solution is to get rid of you. Et tu Christopher.

9. Yummy....is that the sugar-coated caramel kind?
My favorite....hand over a bag and here's a bunch of beer too :toast:

I love a good dark comedy...especially the part where the delusional hypocrite actually thinks he's righteous and has friends when in reality the people he's been using are just using him and he finds himself standing alone....

Except...does his buddy Rick step forward and bend over or not? Hmmmm...that's where the suspense gets great.... :bounce:

5. Bwwaahahahhah . . ."no ideas" . . .
They're the ones in control and we're suppose to have ideas for the problems they've created!

6. Things are sweet in Sugar Land, all right.
This sounds just like the rhetoric that sports teams use when the coach is about to be fired.

8. It's Soros! It's Soros!
Funny, I think his spokesman said the same thing earlier.

Obviously Frank Luntz has decreed that Soros could be demonized here - regardless of the facts - and despite attacks coming from the right.

Would you like some cheese with that whine Mr. DeLay?

13. I like 'em confident and defiant
It generally makes for a better floor show.

Delay will leave only when SWAT is sent in after him but only after a lengthly standoff with police involving helicopters and blaring rock music.

So - hang in there, Mr. Delay! We'll work to get you out of office but we want you to fight us all the way!

15. Hot Tub Tom
During his days in the Texas legislature he was known as Hot Tub Tom. He had that nickname for a reason back in the late 1970's and early 1980's (the Boogie Nights era).

I will never forgive that pile of shit for rounding up the votes to impeach Bill Clinton in 1998.
