US forces shoot dead Iraqi child
Edited on Tue Sep-30-03 04:00 AM by Liberal_Guerilla
http://english.aljazeera.net/Articles/News/ArabWorld/Iraqi+official+survives+assassination.htm
US occupation forces have shot dead a 10-year-old child near the northern Iraqi city of Kirkuk.

Soldiers opened fire at hundreds of stone-throwing demonstrators in Hawija, west of the mainly Kurdish city Kirkuk on Monday, said a hospital director.

A demonstrator, 25, was also seriously injured after being hit in the heart.

The US army did not confirm the report. The casualties occured when protesters, carrying portraits of ousted Iraqi President Saddam Hussein, took to the streets of Hawija and began pelting occupation soldiers with stones.

1. Pre-emptive collateral damage. Today's innocents are tomorrow's guilty

In all probability this youth was suspected of harboring anti-American sentiment.

4. If most of these soldiers are Reservist, then
when they finally come home, they will be out on the streets of America......so....How efficiently are they going to acclimate back into society after participating in such slaughter? Will it be worse than the PTS issues of Viet Nam?

7. Here's another snapshot of America's bravest defending our way of life
BAGHDAD -- A little Iraqi girl -- no more than eight years old -- squatted beside the road with tears of humiliation streaming down her cheeks. Six metres away, three American soldiers had their rifles aimed at her as she was forced to relieve herself in full view of a long line of parked cars. From inside their vehicles, the Iraqi onlookers screamed their rage at the U.S. troops. Whenever one of the Iraqis ventured to step out of his vehicle, an American officer bellowed, "Get back in the car, a--hole!" and the .50-calibre machinegun mounted on the U.S. Hummer would swing menacingly towards the protester.

No one and I mean NO ONE was allowed to behave this way when I was in the service.

The Officer in charge who supervised this, is a criminal Hooligan.

No wonder why the average Iraqi hates our guts.

9. And people wonder why it's hard for some to "support the troops".
I'm sorry, I will NEVER support a soldier who does this kind of thing.

And I will NEVER support the traitors who sent the soldier in the first place.

When fables like this prove to be false there is rarely a retraction.

I guess any chance to throw dirt whether true or not on the US one feels the need to run with it.

15. cite a few specific examples, perhaps?
I'm familiar with your posts in the other dimension; you're big on highly virulent denunciations and generalizations (energetically about Arabs from my experience as yet), dubious slogans repeated endlessly and randomly, but not at all big on backing up your remarks with substance/meat or in reading more than the subject header of a reply.

18. LOL--and the first article that search brings up is about Bush!
found that 52 percent of respondents said they believed President George Bush and his aides were "stretching the truth, but not making false statements"

And how many false stories have we been fed by the American media about the Iraq Attaq? While it is sensible to seek confirmation, dismissing a story just because it is reported by Aljazeera is a recipe for a dish of crow.

21. evading again..
mostly ignored even the subject header this time (usually that's all you'll respond to).. cite a few specific examples, perhaps?

Skimmed through the first 6-7 pages of your google search, nothing there fits what you claim.. what else do you have?

There has been a great deal of lies out of the pro-war US press, politicians, and government bureaucrats. I don't see you giving them the same treatment, in fact rather the opposite:--I recall an occasion you posting from the pro-war/right-wing press the idea that the media is actually biased against the war and they're making it out to be worse than it is.

I remember some things about al-Jazeera and the war too, like how some patriotic pro-war types didn't like what it was saying, so they brought the then-recently inaugurated English-language page down through use of 'cyberterrorism'. Out of curiosity, what are your thoughts on that?

Since it's clear you don't like al-Jazeera, could you point to some news sources you do like?

...Meanwhile, the Iraqi civilian death toll continued to rise as U.S. forces west of the northern city of Kirkuk killed a 10-year-old child and wounded a 25-year-old man when they opened fire on hundreds of demonstrators who pelted them with stones, hospital director Abdullah Jiburi said....

I'm surprised you didn't blame "arafat and his hamas soldiers" for this.

another interesting story from YET another infamous hotbed of virulent "anti-Americanism" (The Toronto Sun); will I have to wait until CENTCOM confirms it to get your opinion on it?

Bogged down in Baghdad
By Scott Taylor, In Iraq

The terrified little girl was weeping uncontrollably by the time she dropped her skirt and ran back to her mother.

This incident took place on Sunday, Sept. 14, after a detachment of the U.S. 101st Airborne Division set up a roadblock on the Samara-Kirkuk highway. The purpose was to conduct a thorough weapons search of all traffic along this route. Without enough personnel to man the roadblock, cars and trucks were soon backed up for at least two kilometres in each direction.

22. and this is what happens
when you take young men, however well intentioned, train them to kill, place them in a place where death is iminent, and tell them to be police officers. most of our troops are fine, upstanding young men and women looking to serve their country, but they are not trained to be civil police. they are trained to shoot first and ask questions later, which makes them the deadliest, most effective combat force the world has ever known. but they are not, with the exception of civil affairs officers and MPs, trained to deal with civilian populations ina combat zone. can we please get some people who are trained to deal with this before everyone in Iraq gets humiliated by a US soldier and bears us a grudge?
