Text of an e-mail to White House staff Tuesday from counsel Alberto R. Gonzales about the Justice Department's investigation about the leak of a CIA officer's identity:

PLEASE READ: Important Message From Counsel's Office

<snip>

...In the meantime, you must preserve all materials that might in any way be related to the department's investigation. Any questions concerning this request should be directed to Associate Counsels Ted Ullyot or Raul Yanes in the counsel to the president's office. The president has directed full cooperation with this investigation.

2. Schumer just said that McClellan asked to wait to save info DoJ said yes
Right now on C-Span2 on the Senate floor.

McClellan asked DoJ if he could wait until this morning and Justice said yes.

Schumer said ~"Did something happen last night? I don't know but we need a SPECIAL counsel (not Independent counsel law) to investigate."

Watergate was prosecuted under the SPECIAL investigator law (Archibald Cox?? and another name but I forgot it).

5. Remember Meese announce his investigation, then
waited 24 hours before securing the evidence. That gave Ollie North 24 hours to shred everything.

6. Interesting. Who leaked the memo?
Will there need to be an investigation into who leaked the memo about how WH staff should conduct itself concerning the leaking of the info?

Here's my prediction: the person who leaked the memo is more likely to be punished than the person who leaked the information.

10. NOT an "analyst"
"the Department of Justice that it has opened an investigation into possible unauthorized disclosures concerning the identity of an undercover CIA employee."

(added emphasis mine)

12. Parse it carefully.
. . . "possible unauthorized disclosures concerning the identity of an undercover CIA employee."

If "unauthorized disclosure concerning the identity of an undercover CIA employee" is considered as a whole, Valerie Plame is not necessarily involved; the disclosure could pertain to any undercover CIA employee, and I believe the law applies to that kind of unauthorized disclosure.

On the other hand, if the snip is read as "unauthorized disclosure concerning the identity of a specific undercover CIA employee," the meaning becomes entirely different.

THIS IS THE FAVORED TACTIC OF THESE SLIME BUCKETS. You really have to pay attention to what is is -- and what it isn't, or might not be, and even which particular is it is.

13. More disinformation:
Many people around DC knew she worked for the Bureau.

Therefore, it did not take a high level clearance to get the information and Rove's assiatant and Libby's assistant can the take the fall for their bosses. (Thus, the coverup has begun.)
