Multiple attacks on U.S. troops in Iraq
BAGHDAD, Iraq, Sept. 30 (UPI) -- U.S. forces came under attack in three different areas of Iraq Tuesday morning, and an accident claimed two more lives, reports said.

Quoting eyewitnesses, Al-Jazeera reported a U.S. tank was demolished when an explosive device detonated on the main road near Ramadi, west of Baghdad.

In another attack, a U.S. patrol was hit by an explosive device east of Ba'quba city.

In the third incident, a U.S. base near Kirkuk came under mortar attack at dawn and a fire broke out inside the building.

Meanwhile, Central Command reported a military policeman died and an 82nd Airborne Division soldier is missing after a military vehicle overturned and became submerged in a canal near Abu Gareb Prison in Baghdad.

The vehicle carrying three soldiers went into the canal while attempting to make a turn. Two soldiers were able to swim to safety, while one remained trapped.

During the recovery attempt, an 82nd Airborne Division soldier, who was a part of a rescue dive team, failed to resurface.

The trapped soldier (officially at least) and the missing memeber of the rescue dive team?

3. Does anyone have a clue
as to the actual death count for the last couple of days? Seems like there have been numeous attacks and "accidents" and references to fatalities, but little in the way of reporting (what else is new?)
