No appeal of Air India verdicts
Edited on Tue May-03-05 09:00 PM by tuvor
VANCOUVER – Families of the victims of Air India bombings say they received word from the Crown that there will be no appeal of the acquittals of two B.C. men.

Vancouver businessman Ripudaman Singh Malik and Kamloops sawmill worker Ajaib Singh Bagri were found not guilty on March 16 of first-degree murder and conspiracy charges in the bombings.

In an e-mail to the families on Tuesday, the prosecution says it has made "the difficult decision that there are no grounds on which the Crown could launch an appeal."

The e-mail says the judge was entitled not to believe the witnesses and even if he was wrong, that's not a legal error that could provide the basis of an appeal.
