Three companies no longer contributing to DeLay legal fund
http://www.mysanantonio.com/sharedcontent/APStories/stories/D89SL7I80.html

Three major companies say they no longer make contributions to a legal fund for Majority Leader Tom DeLay, who has been bombarded for months with allegations of ethical misconduct. The companies had contributed $15,000 to the Texas Republican since 2000. The companies are American Airlines, Verizon and Nissan North America Inc.

"American Airlines does not intend to make any future contributions to Representative DeLay's legal defense fund," the Fort Worth, Texas-based airline said in a statement. "The $5,000 contribution, made three years ago, was done by an individual who is no longer part of American Airlines."

American Progress posted a message on its Web site that readers can quickly fill in and send from the site to any of the companies. Messages to RJ Reynolds had to be mailed because the company is blocking e-mail from American Progress' site, said Judd Legum, American Progress research director.

DeLay told reporters Wednesday he was untroubled by the groups' efforts. "You really think a lobbyist group like that is going to have an effect on me and what I am trying to accomplish here?" DeLay said.

2. woo hoo
Now I don't have to get rid of my car and change mobile phone providers!

Of course, I never fly American unless I absolutely have to and someone else is paying for it. Why pay to be abused, insulted, cancelled, rescheduled, screwed, blued and tatooed, when you can fly JetBlue?

But the mobile phone thing really had me going. Verizon is the best provider in my area, which was learned through painful experience with other providers.

8. ROFL, given that Abramoff, one of Delay's biggest lobbyist
group friends, is singing like a bird and may well cause the final downfall and incarceration of Delay, this comment has me laughing so hard my stomach hurts! That bug spray has definitely affected the man!

9. Oh, yeah...drum beat is getting louder and louder

It started kinda quiet..a few months ago the right wing rag Dallas Morning News had an article about company contributions...in it was a small blurb that the newspaper had phoned AA headquarters in Ft Worth about the contribution. Their response, as it was written, sounded like a very terse "he said he needed money for legal fees back then and he couldn't afford it so, yeah, we gave him some money..but we have NOT since then". So the distancing was in the works back then.
Keeping in mind that this is this neocon newspaper that had Rove as Texan of the Year 2004 and shrub given the same award in 2003 (and a runner up for 2004 was one of those nasty swift boat guys from Texas), it was NOT a good sign for Delay or the involved companies that a confrontational phone call was even MADE by the DMN. IMHO, the only way DMN would be writing anti-Bugman articles would be if the rove/shrub regime gave them the OK to do so.

7. What's up now, Tom!
What goes around comes around. You lied cheated and stole to get money and now you are being cut off because of your lying cheating and stealing! Sweet justice. Now let's just hope it keeps going.

10. The only way we are going to get rid of that POS Delay is to absolutely
keep the pressure richoted up. I would like to see some more noise made about whether all the repuke members of the ethics committee who took $ from Delay are going to recuse themselves. It is like the old story of give a person enough rope and they will hang themselves. Well swing in the breeze MF.

12. The Final Cut
is the third part of the Francis Urquhart trilogy.

The House of Cards
was followed by
To Play the King.

Ahhh, how I enjoyed seeing Francis go to the ground!
I wonder if Tom DeLay is going to give me the same pleasure.
