Syrians Say Villagers Shot By US Forces Near Iraq - NYT

Syrian soldiers say four villagers near the Iraqi border have been shot by U.S. soldiers in the past month, the New York Times reported Tuesday.

According to a report from Syria on the newspaper's Web site, soldiers there said U.S. troops had killed two cousins - one Syrian, one Iraqi - as they crossed into Iraq about three weeks ago and two other Syrian civilians had been wounded in separate incidents since then. ---

The newspaper reports that Syrians say U.S. planes and helicopters routinely violate Syrian airspace and that local residents say anger is high enough to prompt young Syrians to cross into Iraq to attack U.S. troops.

According to the Times, a series of video discs circulating through Syrian villages exhorts Muslims to attack U.S. forces in Iraq and one of the videos shows a Western soldier being beheaded by a crowd of Middle Easterners.

I don't remember any beheading reports from Centcom.
