Officials See Terror Threat From Iraq Vets (insurgents)
by Shaun Waterman
UPI Homeland and National Security Editor
Florence, Italy (UPI) Jun 01, 2005
Two former senior Bush administration counter-terrorism officials say the danger posed to the U.S. homeland by graduates of the Islamic insurgency in Iraq is so severe that the measures needed to counter it will affect Americans' quality of life.
"I predict that the quality of all our lives will change to a certain extent, as measures previously considered needed (only) in forward areas will increasingly be ... adopted in our home countries," Cofer Black told a conference of U.S. and European counter-terrorism officials and experts.

Black, who until earlier this year was the U.S. State Department's counter-terrorism coordinator, declined to elaborate.

He said Iraq had become "a university on how to conduct highly effective assassinations and bombings." He said the skills learned by terrorists there meant that "we are likely to see increasingly innovative" means of attack.

7. Such bullshit on every level. But the sheeple - both in the US
and in Europe - will gobble this up. There have always been terrorists and they always knew how to use bombs and Kalashnikovs; they didn't have to wait for Iraq to teach them. And, yes, if it were so, whose fault would this be?

And since when are car bombs "terribly innovative"? So innovative and terrible, indeed, that "the measures needed to counter it will affect Americans' quality of life" - and Europeans', I might add, since the US are pressuring Europe to adopt the same measures over here? (And the EU will; show me one government who doesn't want to control it's people and will grab at the slightest excuse - and if they don't, the US thugs can still blow up another train station!)

And the non-European and non-US world is now "the forward areas"? Independent countries are OUR "forward area"? That's unbelievable; they get more brazen day by day.

15. well it seems that they have learned a lot
about how to build very effective IEDs from assorted parts that can knock the shit out of armored vehicles. So there is some truth about the training camp we are running over there.

9. I hope all the Bush supporters who come to this site will read
this. We can say, I told you so; but that does no good when our innocent people die because of his dastardly deeds.

19. anti-war movement right all along
why, tell me why we can predict the future so well 3 or 4 years out on this complex matter and the assholes in the media and the friken sheeple are so damn dumb to not even realize it when "the worst case" has come to pass? I'm so damn fed up I just want to walk away from the whole thing. screw it, the Murikan people will get what they deserve and have paid for with the coin of ignorance and mindless leader worship.

21. Not only the Merikan people. The Europeans, too. The US is
the biggest bully on the block and they're bullying the EU to become just like them. And we will. Our military-industrial complex, though not as influential as yours, is just as unscrupulous... and our sheeple just as dumb. And as lazy and greedy.
