1. HOW MANY MORE GEORGIE, HOW MANY MORE?

Masters Of War

Come you masters of war
You that build all the guns
You that build the death planes
You that build all the bombs
You that hide behind walls
You that hide behind desks
I just want you to know
I can see through your masks.

You that never done nothin'
But build to destroy
You play with my world
Like it's your little toy
You put a gun in my hand
And you hide from my eyes
And you turn and run farther
When the fast bullets fly.

Like Judas of old
You lie and deceive
A world war can be won
You want me to believe
But I see through your eyes
And I see through your brain
Like I see through the water
That runs down my drain.

You fasten all the triggers
For the others to fire
Then you set back and watch
When the death count gets higher
You hide in your mansion'
As young people's blood
Flows out of their bodies
And is buried in the mud.

You've thrown the worst fear
That can ever be hurled
Fear to bring children
Into the world
For threatening my baby
Unborn and unnamed
You ain't worth the blood
That runs in your veins.

How much do I know
To talk out of turn
You might say that I'm young
You might say I'm unlearned
But there's one thing I know
Though I'm younger than you
That even Jesus would never
Forgive what you do.

Let me ask you one question
Is your money that good
Will it buy you forgiveness
Do you think that it could
I think you will find
When your death takes its toll
All the money you made
Will never buy back your soul.

And I hope that you die
And your death'll come soon
I will follow your casket
In the pale afternoon
And I'll watch while you're lowered
Down to your deathbed
And I'll stand over your grave
'Til I'm sure that you're dead.

-- Bob Dylan

3. I was listening to my Judy Collins CD yesterday and had to play that
song over & over. "Masters Of War" - It does indeed fit junior and his crime cabal to a tee.

This one part runs chills through me mate.

7. This will never stop as long as the Congress kept giving the war machine
billion after billion after billion. And as a matter of fact, the boosh's war machine just got oiled up with billion of your tax dollars.

4. Damn
I've been online just a few minutes, and even in that brief period of time the number of deaths has went up. Someday, the country will wake up, and wonder what happened to an entire generation of young men and women.

10. RIP soldier
Your death will go unnoticed by most of the people in the USoA because it wasn't nearly as fun to see as the initial "Shock and Awe" campaign that was heavily televised so that we (as a country) could feel our military superiority.

Your loss will be grieved privately by your family and a few close friends - untelevised and without all the fanfare :(

Perhaps the world would have been different in 30 years if you had lived - giving your life to raising a family and making your community a better place - no one will ever know.

I am so sorry for all of the losses and the lives ruined by this mal-administration's bloodlust and warmongering.

I am weary to the bone and mourn the loss of your life together with the loss of my country.

13. A beautiful tribute
UpinArms, the this latest fallen victim of the neocon's greed. How many gung-ho right wingers, yellow ribbons on their SUVs, will give a second of thought to this tragedy? As you pointed out, the loss will be grieved privately, but it will be grieved nevertheless.

I share your weariness, believe me. It is a constant battle for me to accept what my country has become. Hopefully, we will shake off this madness and get these wing nuts out of positions of power in government, but even if it were to happen tomorrow, so much damage has already been done, that it will take decades for the world to heal.

I read your posts, and the posts of others who care and feel deeply about the human cost of this bloodletting, and can tell that all of you seem to be trying to make up for the apathy of others, by caring all that much harder yourselves. If there were more people like you, and so many others here at DU, there would be no wars for the corrupt wealthy, and * would be cutting brush in Crawford, instead of overseeing the destruction of our country.

 back to you. Sometimes, caring takes so much out of you that it leaves you drained. For what it's worth, it's people like you who care who will eventually make this bloody war stop.

14. Reporting these or commenting on them is considered a
partisan political statement by the nut case rw idiots.

My guess is they would be singing a different tune if a Dem had made a blunder like this, however, the sentiment for the left would be the same as it is now.

Too bad our Commander in Chief is not required to lead his people to battle. Perhaps he would be less eager to spend those lives like his so called political capital.

Deepest sympathies to the families of all those that have given all. :patriot:

20. Will the Iraq Memorial dwarf the Viet Nam Memorial
in size? Is that what Bush wants as his legacy? A memorial larger than the Viet Nam War memorial? Because those soldiers didn't die all at once. It took time. And every day another name gets added. And what is the gain? What? We didn't achieve freedom in Viet Nam. And freedom in Iraq is totally up to the Iraqis. Not us. The cruel truth is that the people must decide for themselves. They could very well erect a regime which believes in fundamentalist rule with no rights for women, death to all infidels (Americans), and the cleansing of religious opposition. Anyone who believes in this "war" needs to get their ass over there and see for themselves the reality. It's just too easy to sit back here and spout platitudes about "spreading freedom." Limbaugh, O'Reilly, Hannity...you guys. Grab a gun and get over there. They need you. Go spread some freedom.
Then report back. Only one of you won't make it back. You'll be a name on a wall.

23. Let this death not be in vain
Let his death keep one more person from enlisting.

"If in some smothering dreams you too could pace
Behind the wagon that we flung him in,
And watch the white eyes writhing in his face,
His hanging face, like a devil's sick of sin;
If you could hear, at every jolt, the blood
Come gargling from the froth-corrupted lungs,
Obscene as cancer, bitter as the cud
Of vile, incurable sores on innocent tongues,---
My friend, you would not tell with such high zest
To children ardent for some desperate glory,
The old Lie: Dulce et decorum est
Pro patria mori."

24. Whoever this young person is, he or she is part of a family, loved ones,
a whole network of life that has been ripped apart forever. There will never be a replacement for this unique human being at the very start of their adult life. Did they have children? If if they didn't, their death also means that future children now will never be born.

This is a tragedy that should echo and resonate outside the people who knew them and cared for them.

25. If you have not seen it yet, I urge you to watch this VIDEO.
It was produced before the 2004 election, but I've seen no more powerfully damning presentation of the Bush Administration's lies that produced the Iraq War and so much desolation and death. Their own words condemn them.

The end of the video has a special impact, for it memorializes the dead in an unforgettable way.

Here's the link - share it:
