Bush stumps in Kentucky for Social Security plan
Edited on Thu Jun-02-05 03:48 PM by brooklynite
President Bush is stumping for his Social Security plan in Kentucky today, as the clock ticks on efforts in Congress to get it passed.

The president plans an invitation-only roundtable in Hopkinsville in western Kentucky as he tries to light a fire under lawmakers who've so far been lukewarm about his proposal for private accounts.

... snip ...

Bush's schedule today also includes a G-O-P fund-raiser in St. Louis before he heads to his Texas ranch for an extended weekend.

31. Bush gets back on SS, issue to avoid heat from Downing Memo
Bush even using Rove can't answer to questions out forth about the decision to go to war 6-7 months before UN inspections weren't even taking place. You're supposed to have a valid reason to go to war or in Roves/Cheney's case --create a damn good one, if it fails, think up some shit...that is about the mentality of this administration.

7. As long as Bush keeps doing "potempkin village" events his ss plan will
continue to lose support. Of course if he does "real people" events his
ss plan will continue to lose support as well. And if he does nothing at all his ss plan will continue to lose support. Heh.

video should be played of him dancing on soldiers' graves.

He is the very worst humanity has to offer.

9. this is already Plan B or Plan C

Notice how he's no longer trying to drum up actual voter support. This trip and the one just before it (this weekend, to upstate NY) are all about getting wavering House Reps on board for something that I would guess to be a face-saver effort/plan on SS. Or at least something in Congress that can be portrayed as an effort to "save" SS to their voters and effort to ruin SS to their donor base and proof of Democratic "obstruction".

The politics of stuff that polls at 30% is a little wierd and negative and defensive.

11. He's definitely "stumping." He's got one leg shot off in the polls....
so let him keep stumping. The more he keeps up this dillusion the better for us. He's starting to look like someone who just doesn't understand that folks don't like him as much as when he grabbed that bull horn and yelled "I hear Ya'" coached by the voice on the wire in his ear. :eyes:

18. LOL KoKo, that's so funny.
Yes, let him keep "stumping". Old Peg Leg.

I think it's hilarious because someone noted on the DU, that the more he went out and campaigned for this project, the more support went down! So they meant, he should drag his sorry ass out there, as much as possible.

Bush boasted he would hit "60 cities in 60 days", kinda like "Around the world in 90 Days". I say he should try for 600 cities in 60 days. That'll keep the fool occupied.

Since this stumping is failing miserably, is Rove in fact a fool and not a genius, or is there some method to this apparent madness?

24. If this dumbass would put the money he is wasting on these "invite-only"
events into the SS trust fund, there would be less of a problem. His privitization plan won't solve anything other than paying off his well heeled patrons, but he could be doinf something constructive in stopping the waste of trying to convince 'his base' that his plan is a good one.

25. I heard him say he is going to keep travelling
and pushing this until Congress does something about it.

OK, Congress, get rid of the tax cuts back to the level of Clinton (where we had a terrible economy, remember?? No!) so we can pay for Soc Sec and get our deficit down. Then Bush can stay in Crawford full time, and let Dickey and Rummy play war some more.

26. "Boy, he's ruining old people, trying to at least"
http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/K/KY_BUSH_KYOL-?SITE=KYLOU&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT

Earlier in the day, protesters outside the Social Security Administration building in Hopkinsville voiced such concerns.

"Boy, he's ruining old people, trying to at least, and not helping the younger generation," said Roy Robertson, 86, of Hopkinsville.
