Suspect package at Parliament (Australian)

A SECTION of Parliament House was sealed off this morning after a suspicious package sent to the Foreign Minister was found in the building's loading dock.

The package contained a sealed plastic bag of white powder, the Department of Parliamentary Services said. An ACT police spokesman said this afternoon the contents of the package were, tests showed, "clearly harmless".

The scare comes just days after the Indonesian embassy in Canberra was locked down for 12 hours after it was sent an abusive letter accompanied by a bacterial powder, which has turned out to be harmless.
