13. I don't mind having the plane land in Canada
It pisses me off, though, knowing that bush will take it for granted and not acknowledge it, just as he did on September 11, 2001.

22. The point is that we 'export' our problems.
Plane is hi-jacked and heading for the US, send it to Canada.

Fundamentalists attack the twin towers, invade Iraq so that we don't have to fight them here.

How do we justify endangering the live of other innocent people to minimize our risk?

Karl Rove wet dream come true: a Friday "hijacking" headline. Even a fake one will do...keep the fear juices flowing.

21. I sure would like to know why it is taken for granted that Canada
will accept the risk of landing a 'hijacked' plane when the US refuses. What if Canada said NO? Would the US let the plane land rather than crash if it didn't have enough fuel to go elsewhere?

We didn't refuse on 9/11, took the risk, housed displaced US citizens and would do so again but, I have to say, it really picks my ass that it is just assumed we will do so by the bush cabal and their sycophants.

(Rant over now)

24. Jet lands in Halifax after false hijack alert
Virgin Atlantic airplane with 288 people on board landed in Halifax Friday morning, escorted by two Canadian fighter jets, after being diverted from its New York destination over a hijacking scare.

The aircraft touched down in Atlantic Canada just after noon local time, letting police on board to confirm there was no danger to the passengers and crew.

snip

As a precaution, the North American Aerospace Defence Command sent two Canadian CF-18 fighter jets to intercept the aircraft over the Atlantic Ocean and escort it to its new landing site.

Initially there were conflicting reports on where the flight would land. First it was being sent to Moncton, N.B., but then reporters were told it might land in either Newfoundland or Nova Scotia.
