Web Editor: Sean Rowe
Last Modified: 6/3/2005 8:37:25 PM

The Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Departmen is changing his department’s policy on the use of Taser guns following the death of a man in custody who was repeatedly shocked by one.

Frederick Williams, 31, a former inmate at the county jail, died in custody last year.A video showed a Gwinnett County deputy repeatedly applying a Taser gun to subdue him during a struggle while he was shackled and handcuffed.

After the Taser was applied five times, Williams passed out. He died two days later. <snip>

According to the Atlanta-Journal Constitution, Sheriff Conway changed the policy to limit the use of Tasers on prisoners who are already restrained.
