SCLC Calls for National Protests in Taser Death
LAWRENCEVILLE, GA (AP) -- A civil rights group called for national protests today after failing to win agreement from Gwinnett County's chief prosecutor to reopen an investigation into the death of a jailed black man who died after being repeatedly stunned with a Taser.

Charles Steele, president of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, said he will "bring the whole world to Gwinnett County."

Steele and other civil rights leaders who met with District Attorney Danny Porter have accused the DA of withholding critical evidence in April from a grand jury that investigated the death of 31-year-old Frederick Williams. Steele said it showed there is racism in Gwinnett County.

Taser marks.

Please, if I'm ever a jerk to the police, just punch me in the face. That will get my attention. This is a work around to induce Rodney King type punishments & get away with it under the auspices of subduing a beligerent suspect.

MONTREAL - The Quebec Civil Liberties Union is demanding a public inquiry into a confrontation between Algerians from Montreal and Ottawa police this past week.

"There is no justification we can see for using these electric stunning devices while the demonstrators were not representing any threat," said Martine Eloy.
