New Systems Promises To Allow You To Track Your Vote
http://www.komotv.com/stories/37279.htm

BELLEVUE WA - When you mail a package, you can track it from the loading dock, to the truck, to delivery. Why can't you do that with your vote?

A local company is promising to let you keep an eye on your vote, so you know it's been counted. When you vote by mail, your ballot winds up in the stacks of other ballots being opened, counted and filed.
Our governor's election exposed ballots that were misplaced and never counted.

But imagine being able prove that your vote made it through. "We can't just say, 'Trust us, we're doing the best we can. Don't look over here,' " said Jim Adler, CEO of Vote Here. "No. That doesn't work for elections." Jim Adler heads up a Bellevue company called "Vote Here." His newest offering is a vote tracking system.
It lets you vote through the mail, then go online to watch your ballot's progress. A tracking number lets you see when your ballot (arrives at) elections office, when it's opened, scanned, and counted.

1. Why in the hell would you promote VoteHere?
Edited on Wed Jun-08-05 09:12 AM by Andy_Stephenson
Vote here is a ruse...it takes you farther from your vote and puts another layer between you and your ballot. Not to mention the CIA and Defense industry ties the company has. Jim Adler is smarmy and I don't trust him with my grocery listmuch less my vote. Nice try....thanks for playing...but no door prize here.

EDIT: "It lets you vote through the mail, then go online to watch your ballot's progress. A tracking number lets you see when your ballot (arrives at) elections office, when it's opened, scanned, and counted."

He has been pushing this same shit for years. I am for all paper ballots all hand counted in the precinct ala Canada style.

4. I thought this sounded strange,
but I have never heard of this company before. Thanks for the clarification. I guess they are playing on the recent WA State governor's voting debacle.

I slept the best I have in weeks...nothing like your own home to induce restful sleep and feelings of calm and peace.

9. on a similar topic, how do we about the Rumsfeld counted votes?
Remember when Rumsfeld said ALL military absentee ballots should come directly to him?
then I never heard about it after that. IMHO, that would be a great place to look for fraud.

and, on another note: hey there, andy! good to see you posting!

10. one question about paper ballots
here in Florida, boxes of uncounted ballots were "discovered" after the last two elections. What failsafe do you recommend to reconcile the count of voters who signed in to actual number of votes cast at that site?

Hope you feel a little stronger every day.

12. Well the mere fact that you can find the ballots is a good thing right?
With e-votes if you lose them...they are gone for good.

15. good point - just so you know - I prefer paper ballots
my concern is that there never seems to be a reconciliation between people who signed in at the door and ballots cast. That people say, well, they got in their car, drove down, waited in line, but didn't vote. That is absurd. Who goes to vote, signs in and doesnt' vote? How can that be tracked?

7. And the reason they have tracking numbers at courier companies
is because they have to hunt down packages that get lost. And sometimes it takes months.

No, thank you.

11. Yeah....right...
I have about as much chance of believing Vote Here as I do becoming a Republican.

Let's see, their system can tell me ANYTHING. I don't KNOW that my ballot was received and counted, I have to trust the system. No thanks. Even when I am expecting a package, I don't trust the tracking information totally. All I know for sure is getting my hands on it.

Hand count the paper ballot. For crying out loud, let's get it right.

18. Andy -- GREAT to see ya!
No heavy lifting for ya -- we all have to pitch in to give this USIG* the heave-ho. (USIG = US Imposter Government).

Okay, I've been hearing this bull about tracking votes on the internet for two years.

Aside from the swarmy connections of Vote Here.....

Okay, you vote. For Candidate A. Your sister votes for Candidate A. Your neighbor votes for Candidate B.

Okay. You all go on the internet and check the ballot, right?

Candidate A - check
Candidate A - check
Candidate B - check

Total: Candidate A - 2
. . . .Candidate B - 1

Everything's great, right?

But, Karl Rove (or Howard Dean or Mickey Mouse) just inserted 3 fake votes into the system --

FAKE VOTE - Candidate B
FAKE VOTE - Candidate B
FAKE VOTE - Candidate B

NEW TOTAL - Candidate A - 2
. . . . . Candidate B - 4

You have no way of knowing how those other votes got in there, and no way to check that they are legit.

19. This is supposed to persuade us...
...that a tracking number is the same as a verifiable vote. However, I see only an excuse to build a large company to lie to me, one whose inner workings, of course will remain "proprietary" and not available for inspection.

Designed as an answer to those of us wanting real paper ballots?

20. Fuck Vote Here. We need to manually audit EVERY vote.
Edited on Wed Jun-08-05 01:52 PM by stickdog
All Vote Here offers is a receipt that connects up to an internet database that doesn't reveal who you voted for, and MAY or MAY NOT reflect the actual total pool of legally cast votes.

Vote Here a con game for easily bamboozled marks. Nothing more and nothing less.
