Web of pipelines, roads to cross (arctic) Mackenzie Valley: report

CBC News

INUVIK, N.W.T. – An environmental research organization has released a report on the future of gas development in the Mackenzie Valley over the next 50 years.

The Pembina Institute says that northerners can expect to see a spider web of pipelines covering parts of the Mackenzie Delta, the Colville Hills, and the Yukon's Peel Plateau.

It predicts gas producers will lay at least 7,000 kilometres of pipeline in the those areas over the next 50 years, and build 13,000 kilometres of road to service nearly 3,000 well sites.

5. Beat me to it.

Bad news... destroys the environment with pipelines and roads...
good news... roads and pipelines will shortly all disappear into
the mud and marshes that replace the permafrost
