Post: May be months or even a year before DeLay probe

RAW STORY

A dispute in Congress over staffing has shut down the House ethics committee, and lawmakers said that it will be months — and perhaps next year — before the panel will decide whether to examine the activities of House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-TX), the Washington Post reports on Thursday page ones, RAW STORY has learned.

The Post's Mike Allen reports: "DeLay has retained Richard Cullen of Richmond, a former U.S. attorney and Virginia attorney general, to represent him in dealings with the ethics committee and, if necessary, the Justice Department.

"My job is to make sure that people are focusing on the facts and not politics," Cullen said Wednesday.

DeLay's emerging strategy, other advisers say, is to argue that the ethics panel should not focus on him alone, but should conduct a broad investigation of members' compliance with travel rules, including the many Democrats who did not file required disclosure forms.

2. while I want to see that cockroach go immediately,
having the hearings in the middle of the 2006 campaign season could certainly shine a light under a lot of rocks that the GOP want left unturned.

12. Oh No!
I never knew this. I don't want to know this!

But where can I verify it? I'd love to see it in print somewhere. Reminds me of something I read here at DU about Grover Norquist. Something about how he likes to go around sniffing hand lotions.

8. Excuse me, Mr. Cullen, but the facts revolve around politics.
Focus on that.

Mr. "former U.S. attorney and Virginia attorney general," you put your great state to shame. Get your money upfront, hear?

11. Here's the proper link
to the Washington Post.

http://washingtonpost.com/

You'll find it at the Bottom of a lot of Raw Story links on their site.. I guess Raw Story has the Washington Post writing for them now..

Does the Admin know that Raw Story is doing this kind of thing because this sure looks to me like a violation of the rules for posting in LBNews and I've been seeing a lot of it.

Let it be known that I am not attacking any member of the DU - I just think that the rules are being violated here and don't understand why it's allowed.
