Bush, Annan discuss Darfur crisis
President Bush told U.N. Secretary General Koffi Annan the United States supports NATO efforts to help deploy African peacekeepers in southern Sudan.

Spokesman Scott McClellan said the assurance was given in a telephone conversation initiated by the U.N. chief who had just visited Africa.

African nations hope to expand the number of troops in Sudan to as many as 8,000 to try to stop the violence between Sudan's Muslim population in the north and its Christian and animist population in the south.

Hardest hit is the region of Darfur, where an estimated 200,000 people have been killed.

2. He does? Could have fooled me.
All take, and little or no action. Wasn't it just last week that he said more funding for Africa doesn't fit into his administration's "budgetary process."

5. Oh gawd, "discuss"
yes, let them discuss. Conjures up images of Bush as Mike Myers in his SNL skit "Everyone....Discuss". :eyes:

6. Can you imagine
having to actually try to discuss anything with this nitwit? It has to be the most frustrating job in the world to have to try to make sense of what he says or to even get it though his head what you are trying to say. Just try to get him to care about other people, damn. I am glad I don't have to do it.

7. Bush doesn't give a rat's ass about Darfur..unless there has been a recent
oil discovery. His family has a long tradition of eugenics support. I'm sure he's thrilled that the extermination is going well.
