WP: Dean's Appearance Has Media in a Sweat (Faux News freak out)
Dean's Appearance Has Media in a Sweat

By Mark Leibovich
Washington Post Staff Writer
Friday, June 10, 2005; Page C01

-snip-
The press chorus then devolved into a cacophony of competing screams. (And Dean knows screams!) After several seconds, a booming voice cut through the noise. It belonged to Brian Wilson, a Fox News correspondent who was standing in the middle of the crowd. He asked Dean "if people are focused on the other things that you've said about hating Republicans, about Republicans being dishonest and then this latest comment about the Republican Party is full of white Christians. You say you hate Republicans -- does that mean you also'' hate white Christians?

Dean didn't respond and Reid talked about having a "positive agenda." Wilson was so insistent that at one point, Durbin asked, "Does he run the press conference?" After Reid took the one question of the morning that was not about Dean (it was about Iraq) there were a host of disjointed and semi-decipherable follow-ups (none of which was about Iraq).

Someone asked whether Dean would "change his ways," or if he planned to be "less confrontational in the future" or whether he "regrets" anything he has said. An aide to Reid announced that the photo op was over.

"We'll decide when we're ready," Wilson said. Later, Durbin would recount the scene with some exasperation. He chided the media for avoiding important issues in favor of trivial matters. "Please, for a minute, get to the substance," he said to a group of reporters. "You guys should be ashamed of yourselves."

The America Blog version of the hall way after the photo op:

Why is Howard Dean FOX News so angry?
by John in DC - 6/9/2005 07:55:00 PM

AMERICAblog hears someone went batshit-crazy today at the Harry Reid/Howard Dean meeting, but it wasn't who the MSM would like to think.

Our sources tell us that a photo-op took place today with Howard Dean and Senator Harry Reid in Reid’s private office (these are usually secreted away in the Capitol Building itself, near the Senate floor). FOX News's Brian Wilson reportedly spent the photo op angrily interrupting reporters and shouting questions out of turn. After an initial swarm, reporters squeezed out the door. FOX's Brian Wilson was apparently wearing no credential of any kind (that wasn’t a red flag to anyone) and behaving "bizarrely angry" so the Washington Post's Mark Leibovich asked who he was.

We hear that Wilson "went nuts," responding to the Post reporter (whose credentials were clearly on display):

"Who the fuck are you?"

Gee, Brian, do you kiss Rupert with that mouth?

The Post reporter then responded that he was from the Washington Post and didn’t see credentials on Wilson and because of his incredibly pointed questions wondered whether or not he was a rogue Republican staffer!

As they raced down the hall outside the austere Senate chamber, we're told that Wilson displayed an impressive knowledge of four-letter words, and was incredulous that he would either not be recognized without proper ID or would be called out on being completely one-sided and working from GOP talking points.

See, and folks thought things wouldn't be nearly as interesting now that Jeff Gannon is history.

1. Can we start calling them the wide eyed right wing press yet ??
Edited on Fri Jun-10-05 08:27 AM by geckosfeet
Classic example of shrubs ownership society. Adult, ostensibly professional members of the press, who cannot assume responsibility for their personal behavior much less carry required professional credentials with them as they do their job.

What does it say for their sense of ownership and responsibility when they call Dean on TRUE (maybe a bit inflammatory) comments, while at the same time they completely ignore the lies of a president who is dismantling the country and putting the pieces into corporate pockets?

Wilson must be getting thrown some extra scraps from FOX this morning.

edit for bushisms.

2. Fairly unbalanced....
"The Post reporter then responded that he was from the Washington Post and didn’t see credentials on Wilson and because of his incredibly pointed questions wondered whether or not he was a rogue Republican staffer"!

The answer to that question is, no, he's not a Republican staffer. He's a Republican staffer wannabe that works for the arm of the bush propaganda machine known as, "FUX News". He's also a complete assclown! :+

6. Dean Touches Off Media Storm
.

Democratic Party chairman finds himself back at center of frenzy after controversial comments

It was a scalding day on Capitol Hill yesterday, and that includes tempers. Things got particularly hot during a photo op in the office of Sen. Harry Reid (D-Nev.) after the minority leader and his Senate deputies completed a 17-minute meeting with the hot-tongued Howard Dean. The press chorus then devolved into a cacophony of competing screams. (And Dean knows screams!)

After several seconds, a booming voice cut through the noise. It belonged to Brian Wilson, a Fox News correspondent who was standing in the middle of the crowd. He asked Dean "if people are focused on the other things that you've said about hating Republicans, about Republicans being dishonest and then this latest comment about the Republican Party is full of white Christians. 7. The media is so desperate right now, Bush's poll numbers, GM
laying off mass employees, more deaths in Iraq, the DSM being forced into the spot-light, Korea building nuclear bombs, looting social security failed, and they want American's to give a shit about something Howard Dean said? The jammed up conservative media doesn't want to report reality, they want to cover Michael Jackson, or a brewing storm that may someday possibly in the near future if ever maybe, turn into a hurricane..BE SCARED, STAY TUNED IN! (commercial break)

10. What a bunch of useless idiots.
Those corporate media reps are only interested in the momentary sound bite. They don't ask useful questions, they are more interested in having some stupid accusation to hurl at anyone who might oppose the almighty brush. What a dumb question from Fox "do you hate white Christians?" What did he expect Dean to say? "Yeah, yeah, I hate myself." Why didn't he just ask if he has stopped beating his wife? I've given up on watching the news anymore and I filter most of the written news through careful research. I just don't trust the corporate media to do any thing useful. If Watergate had happened today, we wouldn't have heard a whimper from reporters.

11. There goes our "Liberal Media" again....
Why don't these piece of shit "reporters" question anyone from the freaking White House like this? :wtf:

"We'll decide when we're ready," Wilson said. Later, Durbin would recount the scene with some exasperation. He chided the media for avoiding important issues in favor of trivial matters. "Please, for a minute, get to the substance," he said to a group of reporters. "You guys should be ashamed of yourselves."

Yes, they SHOULD be ashamed of themselves! When they cover Democrats it's nothing but, ATTACK, ATTACK, ATTACK! Covering Republicans it's, "Yes sir, I broke my pencil, may I have another? Oh, never mind, I'll just copy the official White House transcript. Thank you so much for your time, sir."

Anyone who cannot see the disparity the MSM uses when covering the two parties is totally blind. :grr:

And to Brian Wilson, YES, I HATE REPUBLICANS AND I HATE THE WHITE "CHRISTIANS" THAT MAKE UP THE REPUBLICAN PARTY! And also Brian, get up off your knees and stop sucking Rupert Murdoch's and bush's cocks. It's VERY unbecoming! Asshole!

The right-wing cacophony about Dean's choice of words is meant only to stop the truth from leaking out. The closer we dig at the truth, the noise of their desperation will only amplify. Ignore it.

Right now, Howard Dean is mucking out the elephants' stall. As he uncovers layer after layer of petrified GOP greed and the long-standing stench of racism and contempt, instead of complaining about the putrid odor, let's all grab our shovels and help him clean it out, once and for all.
