Convicted Sexual Predator Obtains Juror's Names

The privacy of a Tarrant County jury pool was compromised after a convicted sexual predator obtained a complete list of the names and hometowns of potential jurors.

The news is disturbing for the 64 people on that jury list, including the 12 men and women who delivered a 32-year sentence to Michael Davenport.

Prosecutors describe Davenport as a devious sexual pervert who repeatedly raped an 11-year-old girl during a period of several years.

Davenport, who provided proof to NBC 5 that he has the list, told the station that the court clerk mistakenly gave him the jury pool list, and that he simply wants to expose the court's mistake. However, prosecutors said the convicted felon stole the document.

Can't find anything else about it in other local channels/webpages. Doesn't surprise me, though...not a good way to promote jury duty when there are now 60+ people looking over their shoulders, compliments of the Tarrant County court system.

I may just be overmedicated, he does look crazy, but it looks like his craziness is contained in the left side of his face (right side of the photo). There's a glint of something in that eye!

And who do they think they would fool with a dumb ass excuse like that?

Need to do a little training around there, and maybe some serious investigating and housecleaning.

I would hope not, but I would tend to agree... this smells. Badly.

If they can be given to this guy, the records can be given to anyone. I'm sure organized crime would love to have such access. Maybe that's what someone was trying to point out about....

Were there, maybe, any cases going through that part of the system that could have involved organized crime, and someone "inside" is trying to send the message that the organized criminal elements manipulated jurors in a previous case? I realize this is pure tinfoil, but if someone were trying to blow a whistle without getting fingered by organized criminals for doing so, would this be one way to call attention to an access problem?

Sorry for the long-windedness, but this just isn't supposed to happen, at all. Is someone trying to discourage people from serving on juries in an upcoming case?

second edit: I'm mentioning organized crime because otherwise this just doesn't make sense. Why deliver the jurors' names to this guy, especially after his conviction? That's also why I think maybe this has happened in other cases, and hasn't been uncovered.... someone's trying to anonymously blow the whistle on the 'practice'.

12. I'm not privy to what a defense council has

access to regarding jury pool. I do know some firms hire a jury consultant to assist with picking a defense friendly jury. This may of been the angle or game the "deviant defendant" had going....in a fraudulent manor verses the legitimate one of a professional jury consultant.

Then again....there are some sick women out there that would comply to the beckoning request of such a pervert too. I'd love to hear the results of this investigation. :shrug:
