Bush, Show Biz Stars Salute Troops in D.C.
By JUAN-CARLOS RODRIGUEZ, Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON -
President Bush thanked U.S. service members and their families at a pretaped Fourth of July celebration Sunday night at Ford's Theatre.

"We appreciate the military families who are with us tonight," he said at the end of an evening of song and comedy. "It is not easy being left behind while a loved one who goes to war. Our military families also serve our nation. And America is grateful for all of them and their support and sacrifice."

Bush and his wife, Laura, had been entertained by a slew of show business stars, including the host, "blue collar" comedian
Jeff Foxworthy, who started off by saying what a pleasure it was for him to be performing for the leader of the free world.

"And her husband," he added to a big laugh from Mrs. Bush, who made a protracted tour of the Middle East last month.

1. Saluting them? With which finger?
For Independence Day, no less? THIS early?!

And how dare he say America is grateful to them while he dismantles vets' benefits? That's not gratitude. That's perversion.

Edited on Mon Jun-13-05 01:56 AM by Melodybe
I could care less about Davis and Duff both make me want to puke but Foxworthy is a disappointment.

PUKE! I hope that they never get invited to another Hollywood party again.

Damn it! I accidentally gave the article a five, quick ten DUers please rate it a one to counter my stupid vote.

I'm so used to rating up articles I had a brain fart.

:(

5. Don't worry
I just gave the story a 1-star rating. Hope it helps.

It makes me sick to think that anyone would give a damn about Bu$h's hollow words when his actions have caused hundred of needless deaths for American troops. And Foxworthy sounds like a real kiss ass.

11. Geena Davis maxed with Kerry
in 2004 and gave nothing to Bush, according to Opensecrets.org.

20. geena davis is having a
new drama coming out on abc..something about her as the president.

abc has killed the last two shows I really liked. This one will probably stink and they'll keep it..

Although I did read a post down thread that says she's a dem..I still don't like abc dumping "Blind Justice" and "Eyes".

3. "... Salute Troops in D.C.?"
Are they aware that most of the troops aren't in D.C., but in a far-away place called Iraq?

9. referring to this crew as "show biz stars" is laughable . . .
they're a bunch of no-talent media creations who allow themselves to be used by corporate America to dupe unsuspecting rubes out of yet more of their money . . . does anyone with either an ear or a brain actually buy Hillary Duff or Jesse McCartney CDs? . . .

19. General Dynamics?
Did Bush pin a Medal on HIM while he was at it?

Anyone ever see "The Family Guy" Episode where they are forced to live in the South in a Crime Witness Program?

The little football shaped head kid opens a closet door and there's Jeff Foxworthless saying, "YOu know you're a redneck when your riflerack has a riflerack.."

The kid yells and points saying, "YOU SUCK!"

I fell out of my chair :)

STARS? More media spin bullshit, NO STARS support Bush.. I suppose Wayne Newton came out and sang Danken Shoen wearing a swastika blazer..

something is planned for July 4th and they don't want to be in the capital when it does?
but they can broadcast this special while we lick our wounds, catapulted by propaganda to a blood fever pitch to approve invasion of Iran?

:scared:

25. Okay, I'm confused . . .
Are we supposed to hate Hollywood stars meddling in politics this week, or do they lend an aura of glamor to a public event? I can never tell from day to day whether I should be hating celebrities or not. I wish Fox News would come up with a handy-dandy little color chart or something that would spell it all out for me.

I mean, I KNOW that any time someone from NASCAR or the CMA Awards shows up, it's doubleplusgood, unless it's that goddam Robbie Gordon (oooh, I just hate him so much!) or the Dixie Chicks. But how am I supposed to know whether a movie star holding forth on something political is good (Geena Davis now, obviously, even though she has very large scary teeth) or bad (Ellen DeGenerate -- clever, huh)? Help me, Neil Cavuto!
