White House rejects call for Iraq withdrawal
06.13.2005, 12:33 PM

WASHINGTON (AFX) - The White House has rejected a lawmaker's call for setting a timetable for a US withdrawal from Iraq, even as a new poll showed almost six in 10 Americans want at least a partial pullout of US forces.

'We will leave when we complete the mission,' spokesman Scott McClellan said a day after a representative in US President George W. Bush's Republican party said he would push legislation fixing a firm schedule for such a withdrawal.

'We are not going to stay a day longer than what is necessary. But what we're working to achieve in Iraq is vital to peace and security for generations to come,' said McClellan.

Representative Walter Jones, a North Carolina Republican, said on ABC television Sunday that he would introduce a bill calling for a firm timetable for withdrawing US forces from Iraq.

4. "We are not going to stay a day longer than what is necessary"
That was day zero you fuckstick. This war was not necessary at all, as shouted from the rooftops by millions of protesters months before the war started as well as the DSM. Gawd I hate these fuckers.

6. Of course they reject it! How else can American companies rape Iraq?
Edited on Mon Jun-13-05 12:52 PM by Roland99
The point of the invasion wasn't WMDs or liberation. It was to get a pro-US government installed to allow nationalized industries to be privatized to increase profits for companies with ties to this administration.

Then, once a stable pro-US government is in Iraq, that would put pressure on other countries to start privatizing.

It's the new Domino Effect.

9. Wonder how long it will take the White House to
quell this little repuke uprising. How many more running for re-election 2006 will stand up to Bushco? This could get interesting. I'm going for popcorn, an easy chair and watch this unfold.

10. These murderous thieves will milk this as long as they can...
Remember Viet Nam? How many years were we there?

How many lives were taken? How many of our tax payer dollars were looted from our treasury for THAT WAR?

What was accomplished? Nothing....

This 'Iraq War' is all for the war profiteers, the oil, and the transportation of oil. In the mean time, our tax dollars are literally going from our treasury right into the pockets of 'friends of *'. And killing American soldiers.

There is absolutely no reason to destroy Iraq and its people. That is what they are doing - destroying a country, killing its people, taking their natural resources, and draining the life out of the USA.

How then do 'we' know when to leave? We did not even have a purpose to be there - let alone knowing when we are done.

Impeach this entire evil murderous administration. They have committed crimes against humanity. Let the World Court decide their fates.

11. 'We will leave when we complete the mission:'
More like:

'We are not going to stay a day longer than it takes to depleee...ahhhh....ummmm....I mean...what is necessary. But what we're working to achieve in Iraq is vital to US Oil and Energy Inter....ahhhh....ehhhh....I mean peace and security for generations to come,' said McClellan.

"Yeeeaaaaah...peace and security.....That's the ticket." McLellan was heard to mutter several times as he left the podium.

13. Brings to mind Vietnam, doesn't it?
Just finished reading Hal Moore's and Joseph Galloway's We Were Soliders Once and Young. Near the end (of the book), Moore had started working for Asst. Sec of Def. John McNaughton and he heard an office wit sum it up this way:

"We have re-doubled our efforts even though we have lost sight of the objectives."

17. What's this "we" sh*t, Scotty? Your pasty white ass is in an
air-conditioned cubicle in D.C. And you're not creating anything other than an infrastructure designed to drain oil from Iraq and turn it into money in Bush, Cheney, et. al.'s pockets.

21. Gee, I seem to recall a bit of something about an exit strategy:
How about the October 17 debate - Bush/Gore?

http://japan.usembassy.gov/e/p/tp-s050.html

BUSH: ...Your question was deployment. It must be in the national interests, must be in our vital interests whether we ever send troops. The mission must be clear. Soldiers must understand why we're going. The force must be strong enough so that the mission can be accomplished. And the exit strategy needs to be well-defined.

So,as Reese Witherspoon says in FREEWAY, that makes him a big fat LIAR!

Either then or now or probably both.

22. Deafening silence of Demos on this for days.
What are they afraid of? Could it be that their strategy for Iraq is no different: withdrawal only when we have achieved "peace and security for generations to come"? Isn't that up to the Iraqis? It's their country. WTF?!

23. Of course Bush won't withdraw.
His entire legacy is built on murdering Iraqis. He knows he has to continue that legacy if we're ever going to have a hope of installing another murderer in the White House come '08.
