Cheney Responds to Guantanamo Critics (image not damanged)
By SIOBHAN McDONOUGH
Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Vice President Dick Cheney said Monday the United States' image has not been damaged by allegations of prisoner abuse at Guantanamo Bay and that people who urge the closing of the prison "probably don't agree with our policies anyway."

Cheney answered back to Guantanamo critics during an appearance at the National Press Club, saying that the approximately 540 prisoners being interrogated at the prison were properly housed and fed, received medical care and had religious needs met.

"If we didn't have that facility at Guantanamo to undertake this activity, we'd have to have it someplace else because they're a vital source of intelligence information," the vice president said. "They've given us useful information that has been used in pursuing our aims and objectives in the war on terror.">>>>snip

4. Apparently Not, Ma'am
One of the troubles this reptile has difficulties facing is the growing shortage of persons who do agree with his policies. To say this has not damaged the image the United States abroad is execrable nonesense.

Whatever politically sophisticated people may think, the fact is that a great many people in the world have tended to take us at the face value of our self-promotion, and are appalled and dismayed when they see we are not living up to our own billing....

6. Another cool-aid acid quote
from this criminal

"Now, does this hurt us from the standpoint of international opinion?" he asked. "I frankly don't think so. And my own personal view of it is that those who are most urgently advocating that we shut down Guantanamo probably don't agree with our policies anyway."

2. So, if everything's so completely wonderful at GITMO--
might as well move the prisoners to a facility in the US. What's the difference? Why keep them in Cuba?

11. The bigger the lie the better!!!
Apparently, Cheney is fully committed to that concept. Otherwise, I'd say the man is friggin' psychotic. However, I know he's really a sociopathic criminal.

8. Hey, OK, let's keep it open.
Empty it of current prisoners. But keep it open in case we need someplace to put: Cheney, Bush, Rumsfield, Wolfowitz, et al.

13. Can anyone explain why we have this prison...
in Cuba??? I know it's been there for awhile, but I would think that with the way they feel about Castro that they wouldn't want any U.S. facility there. Or maybe that's the point...any insights?

18. Result of The Spanish-American War...
Treaty of Paris was signed Dec. 10, 1898 ending the war which liberated Cuba from Spain with help of U.S.

"The U.S. government obtained a perpetual lease that began on February 23, 1903 from the newly independent Cuban state. The terms hold that the U.S., for the purposes of operating coaling and naval stations, has 'complete jurisdiction and control' of the area, while the Republic of Cuba is recognized to retain ultimate sovereignty. A 1934 treaty reaffirming the lease granted Cuba and her trading partners free access through the bay, modified the lease payment from $2,000 in gold coins per year, to the 1934 equivalent value of $4,085 U.S. Treasury Dollars, and added a requirement that termination of the lease requires the consent of both the U.S. and Cuba governments, or the abandonment of the base property by the U.S. With over 9,500 (according to National Geographic April 2005 issue) U.S. troops, 'Gitmo' is the only U.S. base in operation on Communist soil, as of 2005."

14. lets break this down...
"properly housed and fed"=solitary confinement and who knows what theyre eating...
"received medical care"=fixed em up after beating them so human rights groups don't find out
"religious needs met"=we defile the Quran to make them talk
"They've given us useful information"=theyve spewed out bs after beatings; we can use this to attack a NEW country
"aims and objectives in the war on terror"=killing every country that doesn't agree with us, as well as killing every democrat

ahhhh the truth is quite refreshing...
