Bush's Top Aides Have Significant Wealth
Edited on Thu Jun-16-05 12:48 AM by dArKeR
They're on the government payroll, but some of President Bush's top aides have millions of dollars in stocks, real estate and other investments, according to financial disclosure forms released Wednesday.

Senior adviser Karl Rove saw his stock and bond funds rise in value last year to between $1 million and $2.4 million. He also earned between $2,500 to $5,000 in rent on a house in Ingram, Texas, that is worth up to $250,000 and reported that his wife, Darby, owns a Florida beach house worth more than $1 million.

In 2003, Rove reported that his stock and bond funds were worth between $725,000 and $1.8 million.

4. This really disgusts me....
it would be one thing if they didn't behave in such a self-serving way. How can anyone believe that these men could possibly understand what we go through to survive.

Federal ethics laws require that financial information be reported only in broad ranges.

Yes, I would say; $5.7 million to $23.6 million and $3.3 million and $7.6 million are some pretty broad ranges.... :wtf: what's a million here and a million there....must go steal more......

5. This is what happens when a rich elite rules the country.
The rich elite just keeps getting richer and richer. The poor and middle class get poorer and poorer. Wages remain low while corporation profits are up. Interest rates stay low cause this elite needs to invest (to get more money). Borrowing increases and savings decine. Ahh the disappearing middle class.

7. That's not new, but it's disgusting when those who have money dictate
policies that affect us who don't.

"By, of, and for the people" means ALL OF US. Not the privileged few. We are not a oligarchy or plutocracy, we are a democratic republic.

If this is a country for the rich, they may as well be honest for once and come out with it.

9. What about TinMan's Halliburton stock?
I recall there was some discussion about him having to divest himself, then the discussion got sidetracked by a little matter of a war in Afghanistan...

He still owns it all, doesn't he?

10. How the heck did Rove make that much money on stocks, when everyone
else is losing their shirt?

(Okay, I know the answer, I was just wondering when the SEC chief would get on it. I'm sure more than Martha Stewart wants to know.)
