Company Announces Deal With Runaway Bride to Make a Movie About Her Life
Runaway bride Jennifer Wilbanks made a deal with a company that is pitching a movie about her life to networks - annoying officials who spent thousands of dollars searching for her.

ReganMedia, a New York multimedia company, told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution for a story in Thursday's papers it has acquired all media rights to the "life stories" of Wilbanks and her fiance, John Mason.

The company did not say whether any money had changed hands.

"I am looking forward to developing the scripted project with Wilbanks and Mason," company president Judith Regan said in a statement. "Theirs is an unexpected and compelling story of love and forgiveness that has certainly taught me a thing or two."

like how to make quick cash by
1. rehashing old hollywood scripts and
2. pitching a sub-standard movie supposedly based on the story of a dubious person to a gullible coke-guzzling audience

4. There's only one thing I can say about that --
Good for her!

Considering how she was held up to public humiliation by a police chief, DA, and news media hell-bent on national attention, then vilified by people had no business complaining about how "she violated (their) trust", I hope she makes a boatload of money.

And kicks her Jesus-lusting family in the ass, too.

10. She's already "payed' the city of Duluth $13,000
and may be found liable and ordered to pay more. (I live in GA and my stepdaughter lives in Duluth.) Wilbanks never asked anyone to look for her.
Taxes are the price that we pay for a civil society. No one complained when Duluth spent money to fund police efforts when the courthouse shooter was holed up in that Duluth apartment with the young woman.

Has anyone wondered where she got $13,000 in cash? She must have a big bank account or else she raided her 401K or maybe the future in-laws gave her some money.

29. actually, when she reported herself as kidnapped
she asked for them to look for her, reporting a crime to the police tends to do that.

31. Applause!
I do think she's a dumb twit. But she's not the first bride (or groom) to suffer a panic attack on the eve of the "big day". She won't be the last either. And anyone who thinks she is responsible for the media mayhem that followed her vanishing act is almost as much of a twit as she is. It's the fault of CNN, FNC, et. al., and a thumb sucking public that doesn't know and/or doesn't care that the country's being led by MEGA-twits who think nothing of launching massive foreign adventures that are resulting in fiscal and moral bankruptcy. Bread and circuses! We need more bread and circuses! Runaway brides! Michael Jackson!

Let her cash in on her 15 minutes of fame. The $$ will come from people who voluntarily buy her confessions. Hey, it's the American way!

Me? I could give a flying rat's ass. I've got far more important things to think about.

12. This will never end
We are on a merry go round with these stories. They never stop. Next up (after they find the poor kid)will be the girl in Aruba's "story."
Aren't they making a movie about Elizabeth Smart? Is there a film deal on Terry Schiavo now that the autopsy results are in (fade to black)? How about that girl with cancer down in Texas, I'm sure there's plenty of bucks in that tragedy.

Meanwhile, nothing on GMA news about the Conyer's hearing. The nets know that most people don't give a rat's ass about the DSM.

We have lost our minds.

19. The cynic in me is starting to think it was all a ploy from the start
Her story cracks early enough before a search for the "perps" really gets underway and she pays a fine that shrinks in comparison to the big pay-off she'll receive with media deals and story rights.

The fixation FOX News has on these cases and the husband to be's whorish enthusiasm when he found out that the channel had a news team on the scene also makes me wonder if they didn't bank on the media being an easy touch for this type of story angle.

I have a hard time buying the idea anymore that this was some spontaneous panic induced flip-out by Wilbanks given this recent development.

25. Wow, a new flavor of the week tv movie, knock me over with a feather.
Reminds me of a Simpsons episode, were Krusty the Klown gets out rated by Gabbo.
He's sitting on the street corner and when some senile old guy with his pants down near him starts singing,"the old gray mare, she ain't what she used to be".
Then later that night, he's watching Gabbo, featuring the Crazy Old Man singers, singing, "the old gray mare". Just another flavor of the week.

37. The name of the movie is "Who Gives a F**k?!!"
Women have been getting cold feet and leaving their fiances at the altar since the institution of marriage was invented in ancient Mesopotamia. If Bush hadn't been taking a beating on his shameful war in Iraq, the press would never taken it upon themselves to beat us over the head with this stupid non-story.

And what actress could they find who can duplicate that glassy, deer-in-the-headlights gaze that scares the crap out of me every time I see it? They would have to CGI those freakish eyes.

It's one thing to make a stupid decision to creates unnecessary panic and costs the taxpayers a bundle. She has no right to turn a profit from this -- and by law she can't profit from book of movie rights that are the result of a felony. Charge her. Convict the stupid twit.

just because they force it on TV doesn't mean everyone is interested. it wasn't even an interesting story the first time around. and now, this is just OLD, tired, has been news.

it'll tank like waterworld. they will have wasted that time slot and lose out to the other networks smart enough not to air this garbage. i hope it goes to a deserving network like nbc or abc.
