Nancy Reagan Falls in London Hotel Room
Thu Jun 16, 1:16 PM ET

LONDON - Former first lady Nancy Reagan slipped and fell early Thursday in her London hotel room and was taken to a hospital for examination and released, her chief of staff said.

Mrs. Reagan, who turns 84 on July 6, wasn't hurt and doctors sent her back to the hotel for rest, spokeswoman Joanne Drake said from her office at the
Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Southern California.

"She took a fall at the hotel. She had some pain and they took her to the hospital," Drake said, adding Mrs. Reagan was on an approximately 10-day, private vacation to Britain. Mrs. Reagan was released a short time later.

"She will be following her doctor's advice to limit her activities over the next two weeks until the pain subsides and full mobility returns," Cathy Busch, an aide traveling with the former first lady, said in a statement.

2. Come on, be nice to Nancy. Here's why:
1) She's our first Wiccan First Lady.

2) She defied her husband and lit a candle in solidarity with the AIDS victims marching outside The White House.

3) She's been campaigning for Stem Cell research.

9. Your sarcasm is duly noted.
I'm sorry, but if you think I am going to wish ill will on an 84 year old woman who is an advocate for stem cell research, you thought wrong.

8. She wasn't all that
I remember her buying the new WH china, super-expensive china, when the economy was bad and her husband was firing the air traffic workers.

She was a vapid, materialistic shrew. Fed her husband all his lines too.

Edited on Thu Jun-16-05 07:40 PM by depakid
The woman shares a good deal of the responsibilty for the whole "zero tolerance" movement in this country that has caused so much suffering and ruined so many lives.

Sorry to say, but it doesn't bother me in the slightest that a little of that suffering has come right back to her.

And while I don't wish it on anyone- karma's a bitch-

15. Not in the slightest
I don't wish the woman any ill- I simply recognize the harm she's inflicted on countless others. If she suffers herself- that's not my doing- and don't expect me (or any other decent person) to feel any sympathy about it. I certainly wouldn't want (nor would I get) any from her or her ilk- and there's no bad karma in that.

16. I have forgiven this woman. I dunno, perhaps I do so because of Ron Jr.
Anyway, I wish her well. I'm sure she has recognized her past mistakes. And, I hope she can live out the rest of her life in peace.

I may not agree with a lot of what she has to say, but she's virulently anti-Bush. That, I can always respect. :)

Best wishes for a quick recovery, Nancy.

23. Her idiot husband put Bush in the White House...
...when he picked him for V-P. Lest we forget, Poopy Bu$h was a moderate before he brown-nosed Ronnie enough to grab the V-P nomination. Bush was pro-choice and accurately described Reagan's economic strategy as "voodoo economics."

I know the Reagans and Bushes didn't get along, but I suspect that's mostly Nancy's hoity-toity attitude. Sort of like Barbara Bush, she's always been an over-entitled shrew who thinks her shit don't stink.

She also shared the Bush attitude toward the press: either fawn all over us or forget it. It was Nancy who, after one particularly accurate article, started ranting about "that bitch, Joan Didion."

And when Reagan went to the White House, it was Nancy who deep-sixed a lot of his oldest friends (and financiers) on the California Far Right. Folks like Holmes Tuttle (a car dealer) and Justin Dart (owner of a drug-store chain).

First Lady's not a bad gig for a former untalented starlet who got her start as the Blow Job Queen Of Laurel Canyon. (You can look that one up.)

I won't even get into her Woo-Woo nonsense with the astrologers. Hey Nancy...how come the astrologer didn't see John Hinckley in the stars?

Idjit.

Next time, fall off the roof.

25. I'm not going to wish someone physical harm
Edited on Fri Jun-17-05 12:00 AM by deadparrot
because I don't like their husband. Or because they called someone I do agree with a bitch.

I said that I don't agree with everything she says. Heck, I don't even agree with most of what she said. But she's never done anything to merit my wishing physical pain on her.

22. I hope her suffering
offers her the opportunity to reflect on those who suffer without the benefit of health insurance. May she recover quickly so she can be of service to those far less fortunate than her.
