Two US Soldiers Killed in Baghdad Shootout (#1719 & 1720)
Two US soldiers killed in Baghdad shootout
18/06/2005 - 12:22:41

Two US Army soldiers were killed and one was wounded during a small arms skirmish with insurgents while transporting a detainee north of Baghdad, the military said today.

A civilian and the detainee were also killed in the incident late last night near Buhriz, a former stronghold of ousted dictator Saddam Hussein about 35 miles north of Baghdad. Five Iraqi police were wounded, the military said.

Iraqi soldiers detained two suspects, the military said. The names of the two dead Americans, who belonged to Task Force Liberty in north-central Iraq, were withheld pending notification of their families.

1. Who will mourn these two soldiers?
Their families, their friends, their children. No one in this mal-administration will give two flips about the loss of life. Our military is just a tool to be used, broken and thrown away.

I am so sorry for all of the lives lost and ruined by the lies of this mal-administration.

2. HOW MANY MORE GEORGIE, HOW MANY MORE?
HOW MANY MORE WILL DIE BECAUSE OF YOUR LIES

WHEN A SOLDIER MAKES IT HOME

Halfway around the world tonight
In a strange and foreign land
A soldier packs his memories
As he leaves Afghanistan
And back home they don't know too much
There's just no way to tell
I guess you had to be there
For to know that war was hell

And there won't be any victory parades
For those that's coming back
They'll fly them in at midnight
And unload the body sacks
And the living will be walking down
A long and lonely road
Because nobody seems to care these days
When a soldier makes it home

They'll say it wasn't easy
Just another job well done
As the government in Kabul falls
To the sounds of rebel guns
And the faces of the comrades
Being blown out of the sky
Leaves you bitter with the feeling
That they didn't have to die

Halfway around the world tonight
In a strange and foreign land
A soldier unpacks memories
That he saved from Vietnam
Back home they didn't know too much
There was just no way to tell
I guess you had to be there
For to know that war was hell

And there wasn't any big parades
For those that made it back
They flew them in at midnight
And unloaded all the sacks
And the living were left walking down
A long and lonely road
Because nobody seemed to care back then
When a soldier made it home

The night is coming quickly
And the stars are on their way
As I stare into the evening
Looking for the words to say
That I saw the lonely soldier
Just a boy that's far from home
And I saw that I was just like him
While upon this earth I roam

And there may not be any big parades
If I ever make it back
As I come home under cover
Through a world that can't keep track
Of the heroes who have fallen
Let alone the ones who won't
Which is why nobody seems to care
When a soldier makes it home

-Arlo Guthrie

5. We are too busy hearing about Tom Cruise's engagement.
Dems, we must organize a consistent and relentless strategy against the fascist powers controlling our country.

We should be attacking the media LOUDLY and persistently, shouting over the voices of the RW maggots who have used this tactic to brow beat so many Americans. We need to do some "brow-beating" of our own. The squeaky wheel will get the oil. We need to keep hounding the media to report the real truth about what is going on in Iraq. And every chance we get, we need to remind citizens that Bush and his administration has lied to us before and they are still doing it...on a continuous basis. Even today, Cheney refuses to tell the truth about WMD and Saddam's non-links to al-Qaeda. Families of those killed on 9/11 should be outraged that this administration is tramping on the graves of their dead family members to conduct this illegal invasion and occupation in the name of 9/11 when, in fact, Saddam had nothing to do with 9/11 or al-Qaeda. The people need to know that the Kurdish group we supported in Iraq was linked to al-Qaeda and that Saddam took the rap for their presence in Kurdish territoy and that the Bush administration officials know this to be the truth but are liars and now murderers.

Two US Army soldiers :patriot:

Far braver then the gutless punks who sent 'em there.

From Sept 11 2001 to May 19 2005 is the same length of time as
Pearl Harbor to V J Day ......

bin Laden is still free ..... more terrorists have been created .....
and we a bogged down in a no win war in a country that had nothing
to do w/ 9/11 ........

How many more W?

7. How about when we hit 1776, we send our politicians over as
replacements? At least the ones with no previous combat service record. Let's see -- that would mostly be repubs, wouldn't it?

I feel so bad for the families of these kids. It's bad enough to lose someone due to a war, but when the reason for that war is greed and the justification is based on lies, it's gotta hurt beyond anything that is imaginable.

8. Headlines in foreign source. Buried in the USA by Media Whore Corporations
U.S., Iraq Forces Battle Insurgents

By JACOB SILBERBERG, Associated Press Writer 15 minutes ago
KARABILAH, Iraq - U.S. Marines and Iraqi forces battled insurgents on two fronts Saturday in a restive western province, killing about 50 militants in a dusty frontier town in the military's latest campaign to stop foreign fighters infiltrating from neighboring Syria.

http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20050618/ap_on_re_mi_ea/iraq

I'm sure, whether a study or not has been done, most Americans read the title and then a few of the first sentences of the first paragraph.

There is collusion and racketeering between the aWol Adm/GOP/Pentegon with American Whore Corporations to propagandize the facts of news.

At the very least, the Republican Party, and aWol, and the American Media Whore Press are spitting on the bodies of dead American hero soldiers!

Iraqi Sa'eed Majid, center, kneels at the coffice of his 10-year old brother Amir Majid as he is surrounded by family mambers and friends Friday June 17, 2005, at a Baghdad morgue. According to the family, the boy was shot in the head on Thursday after troops opened fire following a suicide car bomb attack on Baghdad's airport road that killed at least eight Iraqi police officers. Are other people in the world not inquisitive enough to ask the question, "What troops, which troops? American, Iraqi, British...?" Would one expect an expert/professional journalist might have learned basic skills in college to go into this basic detail? Or do you think there is collusion between the media corporations and the Pentagon/WH?

12. WHY ARE WE THERE? All troops need to come home NOW!!!
That alcoholic Awol Rich-kid Brat who hasn't attended ONE funeral yet sends our troops to their death to take another country's resources and to give no-bid contracts to his Vice President's company Halliburton.

Why are they not both in jail for this?

13. It was 117 degrees Fahrenheit in Baghdad yesterday...
It's not even summer yet.

The accepted belief is that we're a soft people and can't take the losses without running away. Even with the split focus of fighting a civil war while popping off as many of us as possible, the insurgents still seem to be able to whittle us down with regularity.

What a mess.
