Amnesty attacks move to expand Guantánamo prison
By Demetri Sevastopulo in Washington

Amnesty International yesterday condemned the US decision to expand the Guantánamo Bay detention facility with a new detention camp, calling the prison a "symbol of abuse". <snip>

"Guantánamo has become a symbol of abuse and represents a system of detention that is betraying the best US values as well as undermining international standards," said Kate Allen, UK director of Amnesty. <snip>

1. Expanding?
I guess when you make more new enemies every day, you need someplace to put the few that you manage to capture.

4. that's just nuts to expand that
and what's sick is Halliberton, gets the contract. Dick, might as well go to Gitmo, and oversee the whole project. I don't like it one bit....I don't like it when torturers have medical bays either...they can keep people alive that would rather be dead....some sick stuff can happen...you set up a dentist with his drill and they bore right through your head without anestetic.....You saw Brazil, in the 80's didn't you?

Call on President Bush to Speak to the Substance of Amnesty International's Concerns on Torture

Amnesty International fears that any detainees held incommunicado in the US military's Forward Operating Bases in Afghanistan or in the secret custody of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) are at particular risk of torture or other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment. Call on President Bush to respond to the substance of Amnesty International's concerns, as set out in its reports.
