Bush Pushes Anew for Bolton Confirmation
By TOM RAUM, Associated Press Writer

Monday, June 20, 2005

(06-20) 10:46 PDT WASHINGTON, (AP) --

President Bush called on Senate Democrats Monday to allow a vote on the nomination of John Bolton for U.N. ambassador and sidestepped a question on whether he would go around Congress to give him the job if delays continue.

"I think it's time for the Senate to give him an up-or-down vote. Now," the president said at a news conference with European Union leaders.

Bush spoke hours before the Senate was scheduled to vote on whether to end Democratic delaying tactics that have blocked a final vote on Bolton's nomination. The president was asked whether he would give Bolton a recess appointment, bypassing the nomination process after Congress leaves Washington for the Fourth of July holiday recess. Bush did not answer.

With polls showing voters growing restive on Iraq, Bush defended his policies on the war.

2. Is he threatening the Congress?
"I think it's time for the Senate to give him an up-or-down vote. Now," the president said at a news conference with European Union leaders.

Now?!

What.. is he now threatening the Congress to give Bolton an "up-or-down vote"? Rediculous.

Someone should tell him that a number of Republicans are also having second thoughts about Bolton so his little "obstructionist" spin doesn't really work too well.

3. This is great. Bush can't win either way.
Even if Bolton was made ambassador Bush would lose because that would be such a disaster. LOL!

7. Disaster for us, yes. For Bush, Bolton gonna git' her done
Why do people still believe Bush is at all concerned
about anything other than achieving his very narrow agenda.
Time after time he has proven he just don't care.
A victory for Bush is a disaster for the rest of us.

My predictions:
1. Bolton gets in
2. Bolton 'git her done

Instead of UN-Nomination you should take him to The Hague trial, too.

5. If Bush put Bolton in UN during Congress recess and we all know,
Bolton is going to F@&k up the UN big time, this might be the straw that broke the camels back for the republicans.

9. Bush to Senate send Bolton to U.N. now
5 minutes ago

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Bush demanded on Monday an immediate up-or-down Senate vote on John Bolton's nomination as U.N. ambassador, and top aides would not rule out Bush bypassing the Senate by issuing a "recess appointment" giving Bolton the post for 18 months.

"It's time for the Senate to give an up-or-down vote now," Bush said at a news conference with European Union leaders. "Well, put him in. If they're interested in reforming the United Nations, they ought to approve John Bolton."

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice hinted on Sunday that Bush could install Bolton to the U.N. post by appointing him during a congressional recess, which would allow him to serve through January 2007 without confirmation. "We'll see what happens this week," she told "Fox News Sunday."

Pressed on the possibility of a recess appointment, White House spokesman Scott McClellan did not rule it out, but said: "We continue to urge the Senate to let him have an up-or-down vote on the floor."

21. Every time this idiot speaks...
I cringe. Our image and standing in the world has been completely destroyed, thanks to him and his henchmen. It's bad enough that they are corrupt and greedy, and have inflicted so much death and pain on so many people. To top it all off, what must other countries think when this is all being done by nothing but a rich, spoiled brat?

For awhile, I think, the world was opposed to Bush, but didn't hate Americans; after letting him steal another election, I can only imagine that the rest of the world figures we're not worth their sympathy.
